Who does ceramic coating on headers?
I have a set of Hedman headers that I would like to have ceramic coated before installing them. Any ideas on who does this kind of thing in the Portland area?
Thanks. |
I would check with the Portland aircraft maintenance companies. Most aircraft use ceramic coated exhaust systems, and they should know where to get it done.
P.S. Found this: http://www.finishlinecoatings.com/contact.htm http://www.thomasnet.com/oregon/coat...5602204-1.html |
Good info - thank you!

Ooh, I'm interested too.
I'd like to get my downpipe coated... Might just use header wrap on it though, should cut down on the sound/vibration a little more. |
I just got a price from Finishline Coatings to coat my Hedmen headers - they are about $250 for the pair.
They coat the inside and the outside - and will withstand temperatures up to 2000 degrees. I am taking mine in this week to drop them off to be coated. I will let you know how they turn out. From what I have gathered from talking with them and from receiving another recommendation from a local shop, they seem to be the place to go around here for this kind of thing. |
Is the coating good for anything other than rust prevention?

The ceramic coating helps keep the heat inside the pipes, thus improving exhaust efficiency and cutting down on ambient temps.
