i no this is not really realted to our trucks, but it does at the same time cuz everyone is worried about where its going..
price in my area is 3.20 gallon. ive seen it as high as 3.29 up here.. what are the prices in ur areas?
i kept my truck when gas was 4.20 a gallon and ill keep it this time too... how does everyone feel about the prices and how it affects your truck driving prowless

I am glad the fuel price is staying so low. But would not like to see it go lower.
From my math in 1965 I was making $1.46 an hour and gas cost 0.32 a gal.
That is a factor of 0.22.
Now in my retirement I am getting about 18.55 an hour.
So using the factor of 0.22 gas should now be costing me $4.06 a gal.
The average wage of a working man or woman today is about $21.35 an hour.
So using the factor of 0.22 gas should now be costing them $4.70 a gal.
So as long as it stays below $4.00 Gal I am happy.
It is right at about $3.00 a gal around here right now.

Just my 0.02 USD worth

SF bay area, East Bay, my home town (Fremont, CA)

Lowest: Costo is $3.19 per gal of reg grade/87 octane

Highest: A Shell station by the 680 freeway, $3.47 per gal of reg grade/87 octane.

BTW, I know the guy that owns that Shell station. Nice guy, just tryin' to make his Million by ripping off the freeway motorists. Locals don't buy from him that much.

i dont mind 3.00 gal.. i liked 2.50 better, as long as we can stay around 3.50 ill b ok

It's insane to think about when I was 16 [about 99/2000] and I can remember buying gas for 90 cents per gallon. A $10 bill was enough to top off the 16 gallon tank in my pick up at the time and I thought I was doing great at $7.50/hour at my job at the time.

Now, between my truck and my wifes jeep, we spend nearly $100/week on gas.

I didn't check it when I was out today but last I knew [from a couple days ago] I was finding gas in the Des Moines area for $2.91/gallon.

Here in Shawnee, OK, regular 87 octane gas here at the Loves station is $2.99, and diesel? last time I looked was $3.49

fdude64 01-25-2011 11:05 AM

Here in ohio it is around $3.00 to $3.14. At 12 to 14 mpg i dont drive too much

Bob Gervais 01-25-2011 11:47 AM

We're at about $3.20/gal here in RI. I haven't really worried about it much, because I live 3 miles from work. :)

timbersteel 01-25-2011 12:09 PM

$2.97 here in Mid-MO for 87 with and without Ethanol. 91 is 3.21 and 93 is 3.28.

Yesterday, in the L.A. suburbs gasoline was $3.29 regular and $3.49 premium. It changes daily.

I only drive my truck once or twice a week for 20-30 miles. I got 16 mpg on the last fill-up. My dd is a Volvo 850 that gets about 22 mpg. My wife drives the Escape Hybrid which got 35 mpg on the last fill-up. We spend less than $200 a month on gas.

I am starting to worry about gas prices. We are going to give the Volvo to my 21 year old son in 5 months. I'll need to drive the truck as my dd for 6-12 months before I get another dd car (Fusion Hybrid?, Leaf electric?, Camry Hybrid?).

Subford,
I got gas a few times for about $0.28 in about 1969 at gas wars! Do you remember those?

92nite351 01-25-2011 12:33 PM

my distance to work varies from day to day really, depends on where we are paving. so idk but as long as we stay blow 3.50 to 3.75 i wont start sweating

lew52 01-25-2011 12:57 PM

I get my gas at Donnie Bakers gas station , its not a real gas station , but for 19.95 you get a five gallon gas can , a peice of rubber hose , and the address of some that just filled up at a real gas station.....LOL...Its about 3.20 in south florida
