Turbo kit parts/diagram...

I'm eventually going to turbo my rig but I can't seem to find like a diagram/breakdown of where all the parts/pipes go.

Any help/pics would be great!

Since there are over 9 different systems made by more than 3 manufacturers(Banks, ATS, Hypermax, ect...)you need to be specific with what you have or is after.

Jeez, didn't know there was that many! I was just trying to get a general idea of how the system's are ran, I think hypermax is different then the others.

If anything, I'm interested in the ATS systems.

Here's a link to the Ford manual on the factory turbo setup for 93/94's

7.3L IDI 93-94 Turbocharged Diesel Engine

Be patient, the file is ~28MB, but its worth it. Great pictures.

In a nut shell the exhaust gases are routed up to the turbo, through the hot side turbine and then back down the down pipe to the exhaust.

The hot side turbine shaft turns the intake side (cold side) turbine which draws air in through the air cleaner, compresses it and blows it into the intake.

The only other thing you need is an oil supply to the turbo and a way to get the oil to drain back into the engine.

The exact way each system does the above is slightly different, but that is a turbo system in simple terms.

The correct term for the charge side is compressor, and the hot side is the turbine.
