Skid Plate to keep Engine Compartment Clean?
Just got an '11 Expedition EL King Ranch 4WD.
Does anyone know of a skidplate that will cover enough of the engine-bay undercarriage to keep the engine from getting blasted with winter road grime? There's a HUGE space between the radiator and front of the block, clear down to the road, and it's getting blasted with road grime already. Would prefer some sort of skid plate, belly pan, etc.......... Anything off of an F150 that will fit? Please let me know, thanks! Ben |
The stock skid plate starts at the axle and leaves that gap open.

When I crawled under my 2010 Expe for the first time, I thought something was missing! I love the room to work but hate the road grime just covering the engine. There has got to be something out there to cover this up.

One way to keep it clean is like I do with my Corvette and Harley's - only drive them on nice days, never drive them in inclement weather, and park them in the garage from the end of October until mid-April.
Realistically - I am a neatnick, type A personality, ond OCD on vehicle cleanliness - gents - it's a truck! I bought mine to use as a truck and I do. I had the full skid plates under my Volvos and it's more of a PITA to have to pull them for maintenance (oil changes, etc) than it is just to leave them open. They clean up fine. Engine degreaser every so often, do not use the high pressure spraywashers, garden hose works fine. Enjoy the truck - don't over agonize over it. B/R, Randy |
When your right... Your right! Nothing more to say. I'll hit it with cleaner once a year instead of every other year. Thanks man!
