Replaceing the Check engine light bulb
Turns out the Check Engine Light bulb is burnt out. I have to replace it to get an inspection sticker in Texas. I have a 1997 Explorer with a 5.0. I have read online and the manual I have to pull the dash board to replace the lights. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on making this easier? Thanks in advance.

Yes, replace all the bulbs at the same time, that way you don't have to do it again. I personally would replace them with LEDs.

If you go the LED route, make sure you got the polarity correct before buttoning up the instrument cluster. I don't think there are many LED retrofit options that are not polarity sensitive, but I could be wrong on that.

I've done it. It's not difficult, just a lot to remove. As previously stated, replace all the bulbs at once since you'll be back there anyway.

I knew I had a post about this somewhere. Just located the old thread.
