Speakers for 2001 Expedition EB - Door speakers needed HELP

I'm in the market for new speakers in my doors of my 2001 expedition. I'd like to replace all 4, be done with it. What do you guys suggest?

Is there an AMP hidden somewhere between the headunit and speakers???? If I have an aftermarket head unit - will I need to remove that amp? (if there is one)

I understand there are 6x8 speakers, so now all I need are suggestions. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

There is an amp, under the head unit, that requires dashboard removal to access. This is if your stereo is MACH (6 disc changer models). Don't quote me but I think subwooferless trucks without MACH had jsut a head unit powered speaker system. You can buy an adapter from crutchfield.com or sonicelctronix to use those factory amp(s) (one is on the speakers and one on the sub if u have the factory sub) with an aftermarket head unit. The MACH door speaker amp is fairly powerful with new sets of speakers, but will distort at higher volumes if you have a good set of 3 ways that top out on the power output. I recommend Alpine R's or the Infinity Kappas for speakers, and yes they're 6x8. I highly recommend going to stores and listening to some though, there's alot of people that disagree on sound quality. Some thing bose is actually good :-rip :-duel1. All joking aside it's all personal preference.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I went with these JL's.

These Polk's are also a great choice IMO.

If money is no object buy a 4 channel amp and get some Focal components. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...es/th_wink.gif
