coolant temperature sensor

Hey guys, can anyone tell me what the name of the "housing" is that the coolant temperature sensor is attached to. This is on a 1995 E-250 with a 351 w. The "housing" then screws into manifold just behind the thermostat housing. The "housing" is like 4-5 inches long and has a hose attached to the top of it. Anyways mine is broke and everyone around here has no idea.. I am going to attach picture.

This picture is the wiring diagram.

I am not sure if I am following you. CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor) is threaded directly on the intake. I think it requires a deep socket to remove. There is also a coolant tree on the intake with heater line, EGR and sender. Is this what you are talking about?

H00TY1 12-20-2010 08:43 AM

yes, on mine the coolant tree you are talking about has the CTS on it and a heater line. The EGR is on the other side. The tree is directly behind the thermastat housing. Did you see the picture? Thanks.

Line for sender should be on the tree, not the CTS. CTS should be threaded in.

Picture -- I am not sure if you are changing it, but now I see a Box Diagram "Repairing Multiple Cylinder Misfire". What's going on?

That is funny, because i went back to check original post ant the picture is different than the one I posted. Alldata must have some kind of bug so you can't use their picture. I just went back there again to post the picture and it was changed again. So I dont know what to tell you. I do know this and im looking right at diagram. This tree is on drivers side of throttle body right next to the idle air control valve. it screws into intake, it has cts coming out of it then has coolant line on top of it. The EGR is on passenger side next to throttle body. This is the 351 w, with oil cooler if that helps. I wish i could post this picture. for some reason i can't paste this picture. thanks

Hey Henry, I am sorry about all this mess. I tried again and it won't post. So, I posted a picture on my profile, if you can please check that out and let me know what you think. Thankyou. PS I'm about ready to go up to ford again and show them...

Henry10s 12-20-2010 09:19 AM

You could upload the picture into your Google photos or whatever and post a link to it.

coolant temp sensor

from your profile we have the same vans. mines a E250 5.8l.

Henry10s 12-20-2010 09:31 AM

If I can paraphrase your question -- what is the tree called in technical language? It beats me - maybe just "tree" (like vacuum trees)?

H00TY1 12-20-2010 09:35 AM

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=53591 i figured it out. wow..... thanks heres picture

Henry10s 12-20-2010 09:39 AM

Saw the picture of the tree. People call it a coolant tree, just like a vacuum tree.

thankyou for your time. I'm sorry it was confusing, at least for me. I got this part in my hand, but don't have a name for it. Now we know. thanks.
