Need some help...

I've posted this on the mass chapter section as well but since i live on the border of NH i may as well post it here also.

The rear axle on my truck (1999 Ford Ranger) is acting up pretty bad it ticks, clunks, etc. I have another axle here at home but it needs a limited slip installed with the same gear ratio and the pinion gear hasn't been moved. The ring gear will be on the trac lock already all it needs to be is installed in the axle itself. I've been told that since im using the same gear ratio that the lash is 99% of the time unchanged making it an easier job.

Now, my problem is that I've never done something like this in my life and rather not do it and make a mistake that could end up costing an arm and a leg.

Does anyone know how to do this kind of stuff or know of a place that will do it for under $300? I took it somewhere near home and they want 3-400 to just install the limited slip even with the axle being out of the truck. The cheaper the better, I don't have much money since i just got on winter break from school

I plan to have the brakes swapped to mustang discs (already have the parts) but i might be able to find someone locally to give me a hand with that.

any help would be great!

Thanks
