Re-Program door locks

Dear Reader;
I have an '02 X. I have re-programmed the seat belt alarm setting per the owners manual and set the "lights on after ignition off" to suit my needs.

The one thing that is driving me nuts though is that when I turn the ignition off and get out only the driver's door is unlocked. I want ALL locks to unlock. I haven't seen anything in the manual about this. Does anybody know how to re-program the locks so that they all unlock when the ignition is switched off? Thanks.

I've put put about 2000 miles on the X now, towing my 5000lb trailer, mild offroading and running around town. It sure puts a smile on my face!

Re-Program door locks

Do all your doors lock automatically after you put the vehicle in gear and start to drive away? If that's the problem, then you can turn that off- there are instructions in the owner's manual. If you lock the doors manually by hitting a switch (door-mount, keyless touch pad or keyless remote), then there's no way to override that except to unlock them with one of those 3 switches. There is no way I know of to get the doors to unlock by themselves after they've been locked.

I don't mean the Autolock feature, that's great. I mean I pull into a parking spot and shut the engine off. The driver's door unlocks, I get out put my keys in pocket and then walk to the back to get something out and the hatch is locked.

It would seem like I should be able to change the programming so that all the doors, not just the driver's, unlock when I shut the ignition off.

The other things I mentioned in the original post aren't "Fancy" features, they're standard on all '02 Excursions.

Hey did you ever figure this out. I am suffering from the same problema nd totally agree with you that ALL doors should unlock when you park.

Email me if you have it figured out. Thanks David Hall

1956Mark is right. If you have it where it automatically locks the doors, then that is the culprit. There is no feature to unlock them with park. I fight this too but if X does not lock them when moving, they would still be unlocked when you park. I would rather fight the unlocking than not having them locked when driving. As far as thinking your driver's door unlocks, it does not. The front doors unlock with first attempt to open. The act of opening a locked door unlocks and opens in one motion.

I've gotten into the habit of hitting the unlock switch every time I get out of the truck
(to uinlock all the dorrs) and then hitting the key fob lock switch 2 times when walking away form the truck.

its odd that as many things are as cheap as they are...you would think it would be cheaper to put one touch down and one touch up switches on all switches instead of all of them...what could the cost be? Some manufacturers do somethings well and some completely tube them...c'mon ford...where is the answer to onstar? its been long enough to come up with a similar product!!!

Hello did you ever figure out how to reprogram the locks without having to take it to the dealer ? Having the sand problem with my 2003 expedition. Thanks!

Train yourself to just hit the unlock button when exiting. or use the key fob to unlock them, it cant be that hard to take it out of your pocket!

My 02 doesn't unlock any doors when put into park or shut off. it does lock them automatically.
