The truck doesnt go into 4wheel drive when i go from 2h to 4h and the light on the dash does not come on. When i start the truck the lights come on, on the dash so the bulb isnt burnt out. I dont hear the 4wheel drive kick in at all. No noises are made when i turn 4wd on. Hopefully that helps

From what others have posted, that sounds like the actuator motor on the transfer case is sticking/malfunctioning. Most try to unstick it by tapping on the actuator motor with something non-metalic, like a wooden hammer handle. A similar situation/procedure as when a starter solenoid is sticking... The motors are prone to siezing when not used regularly.

thank you so much i tapped on it and it started working everytime i turned it on. is there anything i have to do to keep this from happening again?

you might want to think about getting a new shift motor, once they get to the point that you have to tap them to get them to work they are usually one their way out.

Yea definately replace the shift motor. Its going to stick again guaranteed. May take a while but it will. And the time it will stick is when your stuck. Not good haha.
