I snapped off the lower bolt on the passenger side motor mount.
 

Ok, so I had to replace exhaust studs so I was raising the motor a little bit to gain as much room as possible and the lower bolt where the mount sits on the cross member was so rusted it busted off. What sort of Job am I lookin at to replace that motor mount? It looks to be a super big pita! Im wondering if Id be smarter to weld a new stud on to is and fix it that way possibly? Anyone have any tips I could maybe steal from ya?

Oh come on guys. your telling me that im the only one with bolts that rust and snap off? Anyone had to change out the motormount on the passenger side of a v10 1999 super duty?

I am not an expert on this, so take it or leave it. I am just throwing out an idea. If you take out the bolts for the other motor mount, and you take out the tranny mount bolts, you could probably get more lift if you tried to jack up the front of the motor. Disconnect the hoses, and linkage so you don't damage anything. I have not gone out and looked, but I would think you could raise the motor several inches so you could get to the motor mount. Just an idea, but I hope you can get it fixed. Good luck.

Ok, so this is great advice. When I lifted the motor I jacked with a piece of wood lightly from the oil pan drain hole area. I was only able to raise it up about 1/2 an inch or so.(without reefing on it) maybe if I go from the front I can lift it easier. What hoses and linkage are you refering to and how high should I beable to lift it up? Thanks again.
P.s. I just forgot to mention, I didnt take out the tranny mount bolts. Maybe thats where I went wrong. HOpefully that will get me some more clearence. Thanks!

Once you start to jack up the front of the motor, anything that is connected to something stationary has the possibility of being damaged, radiator hose, transmission linkage, transmission cooling lines, etc. Pay attention to what is going on when you try to lift the front. Good luck.

I forgot to mention, I don't know how high you will be able to lift it. I have not had to do this to mine. When I was younger I use to work on my car, and my buddies cars. I have replaced motor's, transmission, and motor mounts, just not on a Super Duty. Once you take the bolts out of the tranny mount, I'm sure it will go higher. Just be careful of anything hooked to whatever rises. You can bend, break, or damage something. Good luck.
