heater hose elbow
 

I had to remove mine - it was leaking due to bad corrosion. Sooo, I can't find the part # B7A 18599-B anywhere. The local Ford guy said he didn't think it was anywhere across the nation. I probably could rig something up at the hardware store, but I'm wondering the function of the long pressed in pipe into the threaded part of the elbow. Restrictor? Maybe to prevent air cavitation? Baffle to prevent sloshing?

Bottom line is: must I have that pressed in pipe that puts it deeper into the manifold or just use common pipe elbow and not worry about it?

You should be able to eliminate it. I don't have one in mine. I do have a valve inline near the firewall to close off flow for warmer weather.

Should you want to keep it, a 1/2" copper plumbing pipe 90 will work perfectly. You can use a straight piece of the pipe to mend any area.

Just use regular hose clamps.

Didn't say which engine you have but one can find both sizes via a Mustang supplier like NPD. Page 170 in the Mustang catalog in upper right corner shows elbows. If the typical 3/4' opening in intake then you want #10 for an FE engine. The small blocks always take # 1A or 1B. All take a 5/8" heater hose.

Thanks, John and Mike. I ended up ordering one from NPD. It was the wrong size as it was 3/8 NPT. Mine, off the 352, was 1/2 NPT. I just went to the local ACE and bought a steel reducer bushing. Don't foresee any problems with that as it only goes to the heater core.

Did your local Ford guy happen to look in his O-S-I Catalog...then pass the following info along?

B7A18599B replaced B7A18599A due to a packaging change. The only difference between the two numbers is the suffix.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS has TWO B7A18599A = 800-476-9653.

No Ford Dealer or other obsolete part vendor has any of either number.

Is that part # for a 1/2 in. or a 3/4 . I am looking for the 3/4 in. thread elbow.

You are responding to a 7+ year old thread.

These trucks use 5/8" I.D. heater hose, and a 5/8" I.D. by pass hose if it's a 1965/66 352.

No 1961/79 F100/350 has 3/4" I.D. heater hoses. If the engine was swapped from a car = 1968/78 misc. Passenger Cars: One heater hose is 5/8" the other is 3/4."

But, the heater cores used on these trucks have two 5/8" I.D. nipples.

I did mine on my 59 292 with hardware store brass fittings and no pipe. I is the standard heater so had a shut off valve and I just used a ball check valve. It's been working fine all winter

The engine is a 352 from a 1965 f100. The heater inlet elbow has 3/4in. threads and looks original to the engine. I would like to find the same elbow to replace it. I can't seem to find a part # though.

The threads are 3/4" but the nipples are 5/8" I.D. There are two different types of these puppies.

May be available from auto parts stores, as both were used on 1949 and later myriad FoMoCo vehicles.
