how adaptable is SD

Just throwing around an idea to maybe help milage on my old mans f600 dump truck. It has the 370 lima 385 series in it fresh rebuild with maybe 6000 miles on it. After the rebuild milage came up from 3.5 mpg to 6 at best. I was EFI 460 heads and intake harness and sensors. Would it be possible to use a 351 computer to run it. My thoughts are since the 351 is closer in displacement it would work better than a 460 computer. Also idk if all ford EFI setups used crank sensors or not. I know early chevys had that in the distributor so you can speed density and sbc lol... maybe ford did not sure. Any ideas?

The SD system has some adaptability range but only with the parts it's programmed to use, 5.8 computer is programmed for 19lb(yellow) injectors so that's what you would have to use with it. However.. despite the displacement being similar I'd wager the 370 would move close to the same amount of air as a stock 460 with those heads on it so the motor may need the 24lb squirters, and if that's the case you would need a 460 computer to run it.

Hmm... I didn't realize it might move that muchair ill have to look into that

you will have a better chance at adapting a brickwall into a pack of pipe cleaners....SD just isn't built to be worked on....Hmmmm....Must have been a former chevy guy that went to work for FoMoCo....and wasn't keen on the idea of keeping a toolbox handy....jk.....Personally though, I'm scrapping the SD stuff asap....
