wheel bolt pattern swap
has anybody know or ever heard of anyone changing the axels & hubs from the 5x5.5 on my 96 to the 5x5.3 like on the 97 up just wondering if it could be

You gotta be kidding me, 5 on 5.5 is one the single most used lug patterns out there. Jeep, dodge and ford use it.
5 x 5 1/2 in. - Wheels - SummitRacing.com look literally like over 1000 choices depending on size, style, etc. All that work to fit newer style lug pattern for the wheels imho is stupid. |

You wont find stock wheels that size ever for an F150, ford used 15 inch wheels during that era on all F150s. I have never seen a 16 inch factory wheel except for F250/F350's. The only exception is of that era ever to receive factory 16 inch wheels was the lightning.
I mean I could be wrong, but Ive never ran across one ever. Almost all the trucks back during that period used 15 inch wheels too be they chevy, ford, dodge, toyota, nissan, etc. If you want 16 inches your gonna have to find lightning wheels or go aftermarket. There are many ones that look super similar to the ford 10 holes since alcoa made them for ford. |

Or if you want 97-03 wheels all you have to do is drill them out some. Very common swap with gen1 Lightnings with Gen2 wheels. |
A lot of aftermarket wheels are cheap now. I got my 16x10s for $112 each.

Wheels from newer trucks have the wrong offset for our trucks, they all have large amounts of positive offset(hub towards the outer rim edge) while our trucks require a wheel with neutral offset(hub at the center) or a small amount of negative offset(hub towards the inner wheel rim. So even if the bolt patterns were the same wheels from newer trucks would sit way in under the fender on our trucks and besides looking stupid that would also present rubbing issues on the suspension and steering components.

I see 80-96 trucks with 97-up wheels on them from time to time, they don't look totally ridiculous, just weird to me because I know they don't belong.
