My 20 + year 63 F250 4x4 rebuild

This is the truck as it sat when I first bought it for 800.00. This was 20 some years ago. I had no place to work on it just my backyard.

Pretty bad shape lots of rust. Well a few months go by and the next thing you know I locate a F100 with a good body with a bad motor. While I searched for the donner truck I worked the frame over all summer.

Next I installed the new donner truck body onto the clean frame.

So now your caught up right up to this week. Bed comes off next and then the bodywork starts may have to wait on the frame until next spring. My name is Vic im 59 and enjoy working on old trucks and cars have mostly been ford products but there have been a few gm products in the mix.

Congrats Vic on what looks to be a great project. Congrats also on hanging onto it for as long as you have.

Great project ! Luv the brick wall parking brake ! :-X06

Thanks Torkum yup took a while but you know all good things go to he who waits. Sean sometimes you got to use what is on hand drive way to my house is on a hill. Past that wall is a 30ft drop to the back yard. Dont want any funny business having the truck doing some 4 wheeling before its ready.

Very cool project!

Hey Ted Ive been watching your project too. Looks like you bit off alot more than I did. Nice build stay with it. I think the 50s fords with 4x4 are nasty looking. Everyone wants to lower em we want to lift em.

I think I just like to make things as difficult as possible!:-X10 I'm going to stick with it. But with my budget it's going to take a while.

I think the 60's Ford 4x4's look pretty mean too.:-drink I use to own a 65 F250 2wd. I liked the truck I was just too young, too dumb and too broke to do anything with it. Now I'm just too old and too broke!:-X10

The whole reason I went with a 4x4 is so I could drive my truck year round. Being in Minnesota I didn't like the idea of having to park it for 6-8 months of the year.

You are doing some good work on your project! Keep at it and get it done! And keep posting your progress.

Got a place and some money now just a matter of time too many irons in the fire. Ill keep going on it as time permitts.

fordman75 11-15-2010 03:03 PM

That's the way it usually goes. Either you have the time but no place to work on or no money. Or you have the place to work on them and the money but no time.:-X04 I'm subscribed to your build post so I'll be following your progress.:-X22

Buzz44 02-14-2011 11:13 PM

Just picked up a 65 F100 4x4 parts truck. Big block v8 truck the wife says that better not sit in the driveway too long. Ill post up some pics of it when it arrives and then the deconstuction starts. A**holes and elbows for a while after it gets here.

fordman75 02-14-2011 11:34 PM

Cool! Can't wait to see it. Man I miss my old 65 with the 352!

Is your parts truck a manual or automatic transmission?

Buzz44 02-15-2011 10:30 AM

You know Ted I didnt even look at that part of the truck. I was after more body parts than anything else. I noticed the trans case shifter was still there but dont remember seeing a 4 speed shifter. Ill know when it hits the drive way today. If an automatic my 63 might inherit that too. Big block and an auto in a 63 would be sweet.
