MKX / Edge owners

We bought a 2010 MKX last month and I was wondering how many of you change your oil and do you use synthetic or regular oil (aka dino oil)?
We had a 2003 Excursion 7.3L that we traded in and I changed the oil in it a home. Just wondering if the synthetic is worth the cost, since Ford recomends it. I know I can save money by changing it myself and is definitly easier than the diesel engine. What proof will be needed for the warranty as to oil changes at home instead of the dealer?

I have 4 vehicles on the road and the Edge is only one that I don't do the oil changes on. Bought it used from local Ford dealer and letting them do oil changes and I believe they use the blended oil which is syn and dino AFAIK.

I change the oil in all three Ford engines in the driveway, '02 F150 5.4L, '07 Edge 3.5L and an '03 Fleetwood Southwind that has a Triton V10 in it. I use Motorcraft Syn Blend 5W20 in all of them. The Edge is the easiest to change the oil in BTW.

Change the oil myself in all of my vehicles. The Edge gets the Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend every 5K. Edge is easy to change the oil, just get the front end up enough to get underneath it. Wal-Mart has the Motorcraft oil for cheap, $14 for 5 qts around here, it was less until recently. Edge takes a little over 5.5 quarts for a complete change with new filter. I use either Motorcraft or Fleetgard filters. No Fram for me.

I like to change my own oil as it gives me a chance to see what's going on underneath and check things over. Plus I can make sure the oil pan is not stripped out or left too loose so it can fall out later.

Exactly why I do my own as well.
