Transmission builders in NC

Alright guys, here's the deal, the C6 is going out in one of my Broncos, and I don't really feel like tackling this myself at this time. Any transmission I've ever sent out to be rebuilt (quite a few different shops) ranging from C6's to AOD's to E4OD's, I've had to send back 3 times at least because it comes back and something goes awry. So I'm looking for the best shop out there for a Ford C6. I know it's a simple transmission, but I'd prefer a shop that favors Fords. I'm located in the piedmont of NC, just north of Charlotte, so the closer, the better...but I'm not afraid to drive a little ways. I'm not looking for anything fancy, maybe a little beefier than stock, but I'm expecting to drop somewhere between $8-1200 on this (but cheaper is better). So if you guys have any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. And I didn't mean to offend anyone by saying I wanted a shop that had a preference to Ford. I just know some shops/mechanics in the area that might be GM gift from the gods, but fumbles through instructions with Ford stuff. So, really, any good tranny shop is fine with me.

06silvercrew...what's the name of your shop?

P&H Transmissions in Shelby, never any problems with his work, tell him what you want/what it will be used for

Did you ever get the work done?

704 dentside man 02-02-2011 10:49 AM

^^^Kind of...but I'm not pleased. Sent in the trans to a local guy, got it back...it was better, but still slipped going from 2 to 3...and this was supposedly a stock rebuild. I dropped the trans, put in a known good trans and when I get my tax return back, the old tranny is gonna get rebuilt.

The Mr. transmission over on Independence Blvd, near Eastway. Darrel has been building transmissions for years now. He can do anything you want to it.

That's just south of Hickory, right? If so...about an hour. I'm not afraid to travel, I've already been in contact with one shop in Raleigh that I know will do a good job...and that's about a 2 hours from me.
