Got the HD4R100 installed by the dealer now I need something confirmed

Hi All
I have a '01 stock F250 PSD 4x4. Yesterday I had the dealer install the HD4R100 tranny and 6.0 cooler. They seemed very inexperienced with this tranny. He said it is a direct bolt on no computer programming is needed. Is this true or do I need to take it back and have the computer adjusted? Hopefully someone will chme in.

Thanks..

You wont need to do any programming, its a direct bolt in. Its just full of better parts.
congrats, let us know how it shifts and feels.

Real curious, what was the out the door price?

I was expecting harder shifting or something, but It shifts like a smoothly normal automatic. To me its really no different than my wifes Expedition. Thanks for the info Franko. Parts + labor for the tranny and the 6.0 cooler was $4562.

Thanks for the info bud

Im impressed..........................NOT
Why would you trust a company who already told you (when the truck
was new) that the tranny was "strong enough" to handle the diesel
engine, capable of pulling 15k + pounds.
And now they have come out with an even "stronger" tranny for these trucks.
I do work for Ford in sharonville, ohio. I have been in their facility,
I have heard and seen proof of the war stories of how these tranny's
are built. Yes they built the 4r100 and they currently build the 5r110
there. You guyes would be dumbfounded at some of the stuff that
goes on there, mainly because of the union. People can get away with
pretty much anything they want and no one can say nothing to them
about the way they do or dont do their job there.
Even if these "HD" trannys are built in a special facility,
You are still dealing with the same people and the same union.

I would NEVER trust anything like this that ford says.
And trust me if your truck is chipped with one of these HD trannys
and it goes out under the warranty, THEY WILL blame it on the chip.
There is no doubt what so ever that they will get out of putting
another "HD" tranny in under warranty.

When was the HD4R100 first offered? Is there a plate or anything on the transmission to determine if one is already installed?

woodnthings 10-20-2010 03:29 PM

I put one in a few years ago, If it is a Ford REMAN it should have a tag like the one below (Left side). Mine is a HD4R100, The P/N is 6U2Z7V000HRM Motorcraft P/N TRM-1621 (All for the SD trucks the vans and PTO trucks are different numbers)
