79 f100 Bagged w/ 22" twinks????

Hey guys,
I just stumbled across your post sight while searching the net for parts for my new(old) truck. i just purchased a '79 F100 with a 351 v-8. It needs some cosmetics, but thats all. I will post some pics in a few days....... i wasnt expecting to find this.
My question to you guys is RAISE OR LOWER????
I am really thinking about bagging it and putting some 22" twinkies on it............ to be different........Im just wondering if any of you guys have seen one done like this or may have a pic of what this would look like????

Thanks,
Scooter:-X01

i have the same truck minor cosmetic needs 351-c. my plan since it a 2wd is to lower/ channel it.i found full fiberglass bodys for about 5g's pretty nice stuff too. my issue is dropping the front i've got a couple of ideas but nothing too solid yet. good luck to you
my project is called f-nuts im trying to get someone to fabricate the lettering to replace the original f-100.

go to www.truckn-store.com
they sell lowered i-beams for your f-100

chado 10-13-2003 12:16 PM

You didn't say is it a 4x4 f-100 or a 2x4 ?

If its 2x4 put some centerline rims or something on it but dont lower it plz :(

And if its a 4x4 send it up to the sky >:-)

FordguyatOU 10-13-2003 12:24 PM

In my opinion these trucks do not look good lowered. They are just too big. These trucks look pretty good at stock height for 2 wheel drives. But if its 4x4 GO UP!!!

GeneStoner 10-13-2003 02:13 PM

What the heck is a "Twinkie?"

Matts72 10-13-2003 02:40 PM

Its a cream filled pastry, Gene.

I can't figure out how this guy is going to put them on a truck, and I would like to see some 22" ones :p ;)

chado 10-13-2003 11:01 PM

mmmm 22" twinkies...he'd need 4.

matt you take 2 I take 2? yummmm.

Chado

Almost forgot the spare...he can have the spare :-X04

grapegravy 10-13-2003 11:03 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "twink" also a term for someone of the ,,,,shall we say,,, monogenderism type? That being noted, you guys can have the midget gays :-X10

chado 10-13-2003 11:27 PM

Oh Im quite sure he was referring to pastries roflmao.

(And if he wasn't...we are :D )

Chado

alright...you wanted the spare didn't you grape :)

I'd ask you how you know this stuff GrapeG, but I don't want to know.

F150daniel 10-14-2003 06:31 AM

they CAN look good lowered but, only if done right.
i,ve seen two lowered ones that looked good both yellow.
they was lowered about 3'' and the tires are the right size and 15''s

grapegravy 10-14-2003 10:33 AM

Chado, only if it's the pastry version :D

Gene, spent my share of time walking around The Village in NYC while my girlfriend had classes on Sundays. Mini-vacations for me. Have some great outdoor yardsales in empty lots there on the weekends. Even saw a Dana 60 there once, lmao. As long as they can take No as an answer, I've got no problems with them.

Oh and I've never seen a Good Looking lowered truck, let alone vehicle, period. The only things that should be that close to the ground are ones that are using the lack of airflow to do some serious speed. i.e. formula cars. But that's My opinion :-X10

theonlybull 10-14-2003 10:36 AM

i agree, i seriously don't think that 22"'s would look good on these trucks..... 16's would be cool.... 17-18's maybe....

there's a few guys here who lower their trucks, but it's not a common thing, i have to agree. i like the look of the stock truck, or one jacked up..

how about a pre-runner kit for it (2wd lift kit) with some nice tube bumpers, and some 33" BF's? then you'd have a nice truck.

kaotikedge_111100 10-14-2003 11:19 AM

I think 22" rims would look awesome. I don't think there are enough lowered trucks of this era. Pretty much everyone at this site frowns on it, but I like them, and if you like them, then that's all that matters!!

Sorry dude, I'm not sharing, but if I pass out eating them the rest are fair game.

chado 10-14-2003 12:49 PM

Well if I recall the "how tall/weight post" your a pretty big guy...but 22" twinkies are pretty big...at least let me have 1 :-X04

Chado

ps: did we scare off mr. i want to ruin my 79 and lower it?

ATTENTION: THOSE WHO WANT TO LOWER 70's TRUCKS CHEVY HAS A NICE BODY STYLE FOR YOU TO LOWER (plz dont ruin the fords...ruin...I mean lower the chevys!)

Matts72 10-14-2003 01:02 PM

im not that big, I might get through half of one, I just like to be selfish when I run into a good thing.

chado 10-14-2003 01:52 PM

:-X05

KJKozak2 10-14-2003 02:06 PM

C'mon guys. 22" rims would look awesome on one of these trucks...

...if they were wrapped with 54" mudders.

Seriously, I don't mind the lowering of trucks, or any vehicle for that matter. But the huge rims with the tiny tires just looks foolish "in my opinion".

Scooter, lower your truck however you see fit. You can still count on help from this site (but you'll have to take some criticism with it). Just don't put one of those BIG wings on the bed.

Kevin K.

Matts72 10-14-2003 02:10 PM

I would like to see a riced out truck, you know with all of the high performance V8 stickers and badges. A big wing and tucked rims, hell yeah, that would be funny.

KJKozak2 10-14-2003 02:22 PM

Go look at that rediculous H2 in the General Conversation forum. Now that's funny.

K.

johnraym 10-14-2003 02:58 PM

Don't forget the 5 gallon fart can, oh and stickers- lots of stickers!

laptopgeek 10-14-2003 03:24 PM

Yummy - I LOVE twinkies and beer!!

fordmaniac21 10-14-2003 09:59 PM

there is a lowered 79 bronco with a push bar and 20 in wheels. it looks like CRAP. as for the ricer pickup, i saw a late 80s ranger that had gold daytons and a 2 foot wing on it. talk about rediculous. i think the 73-79 ford trucks look best lifted with a set of swampers.

cjcathey2002 10-14-2003 11:57 PM

crap after reading this you guys made me feel bad, so i now i have to go take off the wing, lift my truck back to stock height, but my stock rims back on, put my flows back on....make it not crappy looking by peeling off all those race stickers...ahhh i am tired why did you have to make me feel bad.

(check my gallery)

grapegravy 10-15-2003 12:39 AM

:-X24 At least it didn't take too long or much work, cj. Great job, you can be a card-carrying member again :-X10

wadds 10-15-2003 03:53 PM

Dude, I have seen ONE that is slammed with bags, and it still has I-beams, but they are moved up 4 inches. Some pics of it can be found here:SSM

Hope that helps dude.

On a side note, what's up Ford-Trucks people.

looks like they put alot of hard work in that truck.
IMHO lowering 3'' IS OK but, ''tucked" they look too much like them mini trucks.
if you can't take a speed bump straight on it's too low.
95% of the time I ignore speedbumps and I like to jump the ones at the landfill.

73tank 10-16-2003 08:08 AM

I would love to comment on the ideas about this truck, but visions of a 22" twinkie are clouding my rational thought.

Ps. Can you imagine how much filling is in that? Like eating all the icing off a 500 person wedding cake. I suppose then you might be cracked out enough to want to lower your truck.

Torque1st 10-16-2003 12:55 PM

We need to help these guys that want to lower their trucks as much as we can even if you don't like the looks. Remember to each his own. There are a lot of lowered early model trucks, just not to many 73-9s... -YET! :D

Damn server busy notice, that costs me $.50 to wait 5 minutes with this stupid 1-800 dialup I am using this week.

grapegravy 10-16-2003 01:03 PM

aww shucks,, do we have to??? oh,, okay,, if you insist. :-X10

*shudders* Dial-up

f100guy 10-16-2003 06:47 PM

grapegravy 10-18-2003 12:11 PM

stock height with lots of meat,, now you're getting the idea, scooter. Amen brothers,,,, another has seen the light!! Anybody know of someone who has these "twinkies" at stock height? I'm wondering what the appeal is :-X10

f100guy 10-19-2003 05:07 PM

you might have a tough time finding those tall tires for a 22 inch rim. the only ones i wee are low pro's and they are expensive.
