Yes the old girl got a complete valve job. Seats ,seals ,valves ,springs and retainer clips. Also new injector cups

I need help. On the top of the block, In the valley at the front right behind the from cover is a hole that if I recall was a plug with spring and ball bearing. It is missing. I pulled it out and put back in before sending it to the machine shop. They removed it but must have discarded it. I'll call them Monday to see if they may still have it but I doubt it. Anybody know where I could find such a thing. I was thinking international most likely but I will probably have to order it. Any other ideas

I'd say IH will be your best bet on that. I got a new o-ring for that plug from IH.

OldWoodsDiesel 08-17-2014 09:54 AM

That plug gets an o-ring? I just assumed it was another pipe plug and left it be. I hope it doesn't leak on my new paint job!

Bill - do I recall correctly that you thought your was leaking, but it turned out to be your front cover? Or do I have that backwards.

Anyway - good luck finding that plug spring and o-ring (apparently:-) ). What does that thing do? A check valve for the hpop or something? Can that even come out with the hpop reservoir in place?

Cool Mike. That makes it a lot easier. You don't happen to have the spring number do you? Preferably in international

fordpride 08-17-2014 07:27 PM

I don't. That's all I got

MOOSE_MACHINE 08-18-2014 03:15 PM

I got the pieces ordered. 5-6 business days. Thanks again mike. Those numbers made it a lot easier

Well guys, it looks like whatever little time I had for the rebuild is now put on hold for a bit. I did get the oil pan stripped down to bare metal saterday and was planning to paint it Sunday so I could get the peices on but instead I did this
http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/...pss42gvneq.jpg
I did it on a round bale spike and managed to get it right down to the tendon. I didn't damage the tendon but it sure doesn't feel good. I can move my hand but have to be very careful. I do have some pics of the motor though

The bottom end all assembled

Welded oil jets
Nuts welded to the exhaust manifold bolts that I stripped

My girls turned 7 on saterday so we had a big do for them. The candles are really getting bright

The wife kids and I took my nieces to Harrison lake the other day too. It was nice. We launched on the fraser river, went up the Harrison river then a little ways up the lake and found a beach with shallow water for the kids. The trip was about 35 km from the boat launch to the beach. The kids loved it
Here's a pic of the route

Nice pics Nick! Take care of that hand. Bad place for a wound for sure.

Tell me about it. It's my dominant hand too. So simple tasks like brushing my teeth or opening a door take some extra thought. I'm sure it'll be good in a few days.

Ouch Nick!!! I feel for you bud. I ran that nail in my hand a while back but it wasn't near that bad. Hope it heals up quick. Nice pics too. Great looking family you have bud! :-X22

I have been trying to keep a watch on this overhaul because I am in the same boat Just dropped my block off at the machinest today. with .010 pistons from clay. I was curious what piston to cyl bore clearance is because I am seeing .0055 seems to be the recommended standard but my 94 7.3 DI ford service manual is calling for for .0036-.0048?? Just cusious what you did. Another question what did you go with for ring gap?? P.S. Sorry about the war wound!!
