I removed and discarded a broken bug guard. It caused some slight rust on the lower corners on underside edge of the hood. Needless to say, I won't be putting one back on.

Went junkyard diving today. Put on a dash bezel to fix the broken tank selector mounts, clear cluster bezel lens to fix the scratched up cluster, and gear view indicator so I can actually see what gear I'm in. Lower dash filler panel under the steering wheel (the old one only clipped in with the clips, the screw hole tabs were busted off. Bought a 97-03 F-series dome light, the old style looks like crap, and I want it brighter and with LED's. Also picked up Head rests. Straight full benches front and back, only had head rests in the back.

Well today Ali needed her first oil change (with me) and right as I crawled under her to do it, I realized the oil filter they gave me was wrong...they gave me one for a 4.6...so, I hopped in Daisy, she fired right up, and I used her to run to the parts store...I gotta admit it felt good to drive her again...got the right filter, came home and parked her back in her spot and then finished my oil change...

took the whole front end apart of the truck just to clean up the headlight housing. you know the deal with one thing leading to another i found an unexceptable amount of rust on the passengerside body mount. too tight for sand blasting so i just cleaned it up best i could and put some rust retardent paint on it. wasn't all that bad of a job but the fasteners all broke as i was disassembling the headlight housing. i went and picked up about 20 of them to replace and have extra. found some scary looking breaklines.looks like another job ahead of me

Wash and wax yesterday, hitting it up with an electric buffer today and putting rain-x on the windshield for the first time. gonna check all the grease fittings and change the oil today as well. making a 3 hour highway run tomorrow so I want everything prepared.

while the 1st coat was drying on a picnic table I am restoring i decided to dig into the pass. door panel and find out why it is so noisy. Apparently whoever installed the aftermarket speaker in that door didn't believe in panel clips, 3 were just missing and the others were toast. Also someone must have broken into the the truck at some time before I got it because there were bits of broken glass all inside. The handle mechanism was loose (it's a poor design as well, one bolt and a metal lap? c'mon). Also all the screws were loose and rusted to crap. So I took it ALL apart, lubed everything, cleaned everything, tightened EVERY nut, bolt and screw in there. I have ordered new speakers and I will insulate the door, replace all the panel clips etc when I get the new speakers. I also put some electrical tape aroung the rubber in the butterfly window, it looks pretty much perfect, hopefully it has stiffened the rubber enough that it will no longer whistle at 70 mph. Then I put a second coat on the table and it was miller time. oil change yesterday. feeling good!
