Propane,Steve and how is your afternoon going?

350 Steve how are you doing...Been awhile

tjc transport 10-03-2009 02:44 PM

blue is out of service.

the rear driveshaft is fubar.

during the u-joint change attempt, i noticed a few things that scared the crap out of me.
first off, the flange that mounts to the transfer case was broken in 2 places. 1 was welded, and the other is a broken "hoop" that the joint cap sits in.

in the back .the joint cap "hoops" are both wasted. all scored up, and both are bent. so it looks like i have to find a new drive shaft for a short box diesel.

a greasy rag and some bailin wire oughta fix that.

tjc transport 10-03-2009 02:57 PM

that is the problem. the last POS that worked on it used bailing wire to weld some broken parts, and a greasy rag to hide the welds and the rest of the crap he messed up.

I had a 1981 F-150 and I lost the drive shaft one day and come to find out that last owner had bent threaded rod to hold the U-joints on

It's just another bump in the road to vehicle maintanance, and being it'll be fixed right this time.
