Can you measure the height of the bed rails from the ground, and post the results. I already had to raise my 5th wheel trailer going from a 1994 F350 to a 2005 F350 FX4. Would like to know if the F450 FX4 will fit under my trailer.
Thanks. |
55 1/2" Rear of Box and 54" front....08, F450 4X4

Backed my 450 under my 5er for the first time last night to see how they looked together :D and I have 6 1/2" - 7" clearance from the bed rails to the bottom of the overhang. :-jammin (I measured 5" but the front is about a full bubble off level, front low)

Full bubble off level, sounds like some of those who post here!

I had to drop the coupler on a gooseneck horse trailer about 3 and 1/2 inches as the 08 F350 4WD sits lower than my 99 F350 4WD.

Thanks for posting the photos, she's a beauty! |
I have the heavy service suspension. Glad you enjoyed the pics!

Thanks for the bed rail measurements. Those are about the same as my 2005 FX4 TowBoss.

Hi,
I have one on order exactly like yours, except no leather. They ordered mine with the 4.88 rear instead of the 4.30. Should I be concerned? My max trailer weight is 15,000lbs so I wasn't concerned about maxing out the CGVWR but more on the gas mileage. Will it make that much of a difference? Cheers and congratulations on a great looking truck Al in wet British Columbia Canada |
Your welcome........
Roundrobin, From what I have been reading in here and other web sites, people who have the 4:30's are averaging just about the same mpg as those with the 4:88's. I too was concerned at first, but it doesn't seem to be a drastic difference. I'm averaging right at about 11 mpg on my 450 w/4:88's over the last 1700miles. |
Thank you so much "Strut61" I feel much better hearing this. My "black" 450 is supposed to be here anyday now. I ordered it with the "dark grey" interior and the heavy trailer towing package and suspension. (that is why the 4.88. It defaults to that when you pick up the heavy package).
Cheers Al |

FYI - diesel need emission inspections every year here - gas vehicles don't need it at all since Jan. 2007 |

My truck has the engine block htr, snow plow prep, trans PTO, i just can't believe I missed the seat heaters! |
I had seat heaters in my Subaru that I owned for 6 years - I used them 4 times - twice to actually warm me (when it was -15* F outside) and twice to loosen up my back muscles after climbing too hard and not stopping. I really don't think you'll miss them. Chicks dig 'em though.

I like the heated seats for the first 10 miles or so in the morning because they heat up faster than the coolant and subsequently the heater core and this is especially so in a diesel. Although the supplemental heater, by the sound of it, should do about the same thing.
