Have checked all vac lines and fittings resealed the intake, new plugs and cops, anyone have any ideas . It done this suddenly on a trip thru kansas. Ever since i get a cel that flashes with engine shutter at cruise. give it gas its happy.:-drink

have a good mechanic check to see if you are running lean at cruising speeds, use a good injection cleaner(chevron or sea foam) on a regular basis.

miles on my F-250

As of today I have 412,000+ miles on my '99 F-250 SuperDuty. I am the original owner. It has the original 5.4L engine. It's a little tired, but still pulls my 20 ft stock trailer. Until this last year I averaged 35K miles. Change the oil every 3000 miles. It is only on the second clutch. It's a great truck.

97 F150 4x4 has 18,000 on built 4.6L motor. I am original owner BTW.

I drive a 1997 F-150 XLT that looks much newer and it has 226,000 miles on it. I am the 2nd owner and have owned it since it had 65,000. It runs great. I need to put new brakes on it right now, but other than that, it's fine.

As of March 31, 200,000 miles on my '97 5.4 F150 4x4.
As of March 31, 100,000 miles on my '00 6.8 Excursion 4x4.

I have a 2007 F250 with 5.4 3V with 183000. Bought it with 131000 and just changed the plugs last weekend. What a treat that was:-X15

Found this on FleaBay: Ford : E-Series Van XLT in Ford | eBay Motors

If those claims are correct---and I have no reason to believe they're not---that's some endorsement for our motors huh? :)

I recently acquired a '98 250 reg cab 5.4 4X4 with 186000 for $1200, did tie rod ends, adjusting tubes, upper control arms with b/j's, lower b/j's, cv-shafts, and all four universals since the grease seemed to have dried out from extended siting and torn boots and such(only about $300 total in parts:)). The motor and drive train make no unusual noises(other than the missfire from the cracked cop on #1 it still have to change out:-X19). But to get to the point, "Have you driven a ford lately?", I hadn't in a decade and I'm glad to be back in one:D.

Edit:forgot to mention exhaust manifolds(another $250 in parts), but still under $2k for a 4X4 that should last me a few years}>.

hoping this truck will join the 400k club :-X06

00 e150 5.4. 140,000 miles just getting started

Just passed 190,000 on '05, 5.4, Supercrew. Running on its 3rd set of plugs and had to change cats last year due to neglecting misfire due to fouled plugs. Changed coolant, thermostat, and belt at 150K as well. Factory ball joints replaced with MOOG as needed. Other than that, alternator failed at about 160,000 and A/C clutch went about the same time. Regular routine maintenance is key to longevity. Use Mobil 1 5W-40 and have dealer flush tranny about every 50K. Engine and tranny never have never been opened up. Still runs great and body and interior is tight considering the miles and usage. Paint still looks good, too. Very satisfied considering I drive this to work, hunt, tow, and fish with this vehicle. Bought a 2013 Lariat Ecoboost 4x4 in December due to positive experiences with 3 prior, durable F-150s and several good Ford work trucks.

This is in the other thread but my (now my fathers) 1998 f150 2wd 5.4l has 328k on it and runs awesome with seemingly endless power. Original engine and tranny, never really any major work done other than brakes and plugs once. When it needed fixing it was always brought in immediately, again, no big $$ fixes over many many miles.

This was my main reason for purchasing a 2002 5.4l f350, ford reliability and longevity.
