Is there a way you can drill holes in the grille guard instead?
Today I might regap my plugs to like .050" (up from the stock .046") and see how it runs. Also going to start loading up some junk to take to the dump Friday. It'll be nice if I can get my little shed cleaned out enough to where I can actually get the wiring fixed in it (simple stuff) and start using it for something other than a catch-all. lol |

If the brackets will cover it, you could try heating up the place you want to drill with a propane or butane torch (the kind you buy at walmart) and then try...the heat might soften the metal some.

Not sure about what kind of bit to use, I'd listen to the guy above me...lol

Well not today, but yesterday I headed to Autozone and bought both rear U-Joints, now I'm probably headed back for a headgasket... COULDA HAD A V8! lolol

Jacked up the rear end and saw there was alot of play in the driveshaft.

I don't believe it happened as I see no pictures. }>
Seriously, I'd like to see what that looks like. I'll post them up when I get new batteries for my camera. It doesn't look bad, but I just don't feel it works with the truck. I think some sort of dark shadow gray would look better. |
The new alternator went on. Works beautifully. Charges at 14.4 volts while the old one charged at 14.2. Perfect.
So, that means my charging system woes are corrected. |

Today I tightened my oil pan bolts, checked all the oil, power steering fluid, etc. Tightening some of those bolts was quite a chore because of my engine mounts. I also added a little bit of under-coating to my frame. I did find something a little weird as I checked things though. My battery is charging at 16-18 volts instead of 12-14, and i'm not quite sure how to fix that or why its doing that all of the sudden? So that's probably what i'll be checking out after school tomorrow.

Today I made a dump run with the truck, driven it about 5 miles now and the oil looks great. That EdelBROKE electric choke SUCKS! it was 38 degrees this morning and it didn't even set when I pumped the gas to set it. It does that often, and when it does set it loads up with gas and runs like crap until I can get it to come off. I've set it to how my owners manual says to and it's still like that. I think it's manual choke conversion time. I hate that carburetor. It does run way better with the .100 jets, doesn't feel like I'm pulling an anchor anymore. Now I just need the 7" jets to finish getting rid of the stumble at low rpm cruise.
