Got my bumper done, 1 more item off the ever-growing list of things to do.

Hood alignment

So, I have been fighting my hood for almost a year. Did all the adjustments 2-3 times and still my passenger side had a HUGE gap. Finally realised I had a warped hood and thought well I have already repainted but could buy a new hood and repaint but still trying to do this on a budget as many who have read through my build saw.
so I had to attack this from a different angle. It dawned on me last night. Why don't I cut down the spring causing more tension. I got my old spring out(had already replaced all hardware thinking that would solve it) cut out 1 1/2 coils. Got the torch and created a new end catch, reassembled and Bam!! Not perfect but super happy. This also solved the gap and height issue in front of the cowl.
not perfect but a whole lot better.
Cost was zero
Time was about 2 hours

Where did you get your exhaust tube from?

I can't seem to find a shop in Regina that will sell me 2.5" exhaust tube to do my own tailpipe.

Maybe Acklands?

You're kidding right? You can't find 2.5 inch pipe at Canadian tire, Midas, speedy or any other shops? Can't order it from carquest, Napa etc....

I'll check with Canadian Tire, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I've checked their website with no avail. Nobody is ever at the parts counter, but I'll give er a another go.

77-took it for a drive on the new Edelbrock 1411 750 cfm. After I had dialed-in the new carb, i filled the tank. Took it for a nice drive today and again filled the tank. Average mileage on the first tank was 8.4. Which is the best of all the trucks and up from the 6 it was getting before

Took a photo of the LEDs I installed last week:

Dash of the 77

78-Installed two LEDs in the dash, one on each side of the speedometer. Took a pic tonight:

79-pulled the carb to clean-up the secondary bowl that was flooding. Adjusted the radio "back" in the dash to better align the face plate. Installed two LEDs for the speedometer. Took it for a nice shake-out drive. I'm pretty good about keeping my foot out of it, but today I let the ponies run free...well, free up to about 75. Ran awesome. Pic of the LEDs tonight:

79. Yes, they're bright (and dimmable)

Took a selfie with my trucks :)

Right on

Right on PapaBear, I have a hard enough time keeping up with my one dent side, your maintaining 3 of them ! Always look forward to your threads :-jammin

Spent my birthday installing 2 freeze plugs, changing the oil and wipers. Considering I spent my last birthday wondering if the chemo and radiation were going to work, I'd say it was a pretty good day. And I had cake! And pizza!

Happy Birthday

corvair62 03-05-2017 07:28 AM

Hope your birthday was everything you wanted it to be lasermike. PapaBear, glad you found some leds you like. They look really good in your beautiful trucks. The only thing I've done to mine is order new hinge pins for the doors. Hope to get on those one night this week.

I need to do that LED upgrade in Ka'Bluey. Not too long ago, I did remove the blue/green plastic lens's that are in the instrument cluster. And replaced the burnt out bulbs. That did give me quite a bit more light fir the gauges.

Unk Bob:-wink

Can you give a reference for the bulbs?
And it looks like you have good taste in beer.
