I find Wally-World to have the best price for that stuff.

Sporting-goods stores will stab you for it.

But, of course, I can remember when gasoline was nineteen cents a gallon during "price wars"!

I wonder what price camp fuel was back then. :)

ya pop i grabbed it at good ole wally world. couldn't remember if i had a gallon in stock for my stable of Coleman stuff or not so i grabbed one....

so today i am digging out all my coleman lanterns for a show and tell later on here and found a full gallon... oh well a stock of fuel is not a bad idea for emergency ill have plenty of light and heat for cooking stuff.

OldBlackCat 05-14-2013 09:27 PM

well Ive seen a few of y'all chatting about old Coleman lanterns, and i have been telling myself i am gonna snap up some pictures to show my small collection.

2 of them were my dad's fathers and they were used when my dad and him would go camping as a kid. the propane job was my mothers dads and i don't remember him using it much. one of the gas lanterns my grandfather on moms side bought for me as a kid (10 yrs old ) for 5 dollars from the good will store in a clam shell case with a full tank of fuel! and one of the gas ones im not entirely sure where it came from.

3 of the 5 needs servicing, the propane job needs a pair of mantels and a globe.

heres my stable of light!

hears a picture of my 2 "modern" stoves. the one burner i bought in 2007 and the 2 burner i bought in 2010. the single burner i have used many times when i used to do a lot of tent camping, but since i go mostly with friends now in there trailer i haven't use it much. the 2 burner is brand new unused. i purchased it and never had a chance to use it yet. my friend bought a toy hauler and it comes with a stove :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps82d22552.jpg

last but not least this lantern my dad remembers most as a kid camping with... i also need help identifying this lantern that was my grandfathers on my dads side, i cannot seem to find a obvious date stamp so somewhere prior 1948? dad first guess was it came over on the mayflower (smart ass) :phe guessed late 30's to mid to late 40's

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psd7cf5ab4.jpg

i was thinking of taking some steel wool and wd40 and cleaning the bottom of the tank some so its easier to read the stamping.

there ya go guys! one day id like to get them all working again, need to maybe find someone to service them for me.

Nice! I see you've got an old aluminum funnel too :-X22

My highly non-scientific and minimally informed guess is that the last lantern you showed is a model 228.

Check this place out: </title> <title>Welcome to the CCF

Steve is right, CCF has a ton of info. Is this a 220C? -

I think it's a 228d, but some stamped dates and a little research will ID it for sure. No random steel wool, you can find step by step rebuild instructions. Looks like a nickel font to boot?

OldBlackCat 05-14-2013 10:43 PM

not sure if the font is nickle but i just put a magnet to it and its not steel the bottom which i pictured is steel... the only number i found stamped on the bottom was a 5 and it was to the right of the coleman riseing sun logo.

wpnaes 05-14-2013 10:49 PM

The other number or two should be on the opposite side from the 5. Tough to make out in the pic and might be poorly stamped.

OldBlackCat 05-14-2013 11:16 PM

the 220K has a may of hours setting on the ground out in the back yard or a random dirt field lighting the way when i used to race my electric RC trucks around either by myself or with friends. there was one rule and one rule only.... don't hit the @#$% lantern! :P

Nighteyez 05-15-2013 12:23 PM

Quite a nice collection of lanterns you have there. I know nothing about them so i can't help identify the last one, but they are all nice nonetheless. :)
