Hmmm, adjustable vacuum modulator. Hadn't heard of that. So it allows you to change the transmission's view of hard the engine is working? How does that differ from the throttle linkage? That's how I got mine to shift later, but it still isn't as late as I'd like.

Pulled the cowl off and cleaned out the debris that had accumulated (the truck sat for several months before I bought it). While the wiper arms were off I cleaned them up and gave them a coat of trim black (SEM). I also replaced the tailgate cables and some broken knobs inside cab (parts from my trip to the junkyard on Friday). Hopefully tomorrow I can get the fuel and air filter changed before I get other chores from the boss.

90-95% of the aftermarket modulator valves for Ford transmissions are adjustable. Inside the nipple for the vacuum hose, there's a small screw, typically either standard flat blade or allen head. Turning that screw in/out will alter the shift points.

Ordered chrome stuff from Ebay.

it allows to adjust the point at which it shifts via a small screw in the hose nipple. screwed all the way out shifts real early, all the way in real late. at about 2/3 in( screw head 1/8" inside nipple opening) she shifts at about 1400. I tried her at a little later, but she shifted kinda hard when I layed into the throttle. 1400 seems firm but not jolting.

picked up a pair of mustang hood scoops, using this one for mock up.

That scoop will look nice on there, what truck is the hood for?

did a compression test and got about 120 on all cylinders. is this too low or is that an acceptable number? the plugs all looked good.

I'm curious. What engine did you do your compression test on?

(or does it matter?)

Replaced the freshly painted wiper arms. Changed the fuel and air filters. Need to get interior paint and headliner material on order for the next project.
Still gathering parts for the DSII swap. I pulled a couple of ignition modules and another coil on Friday. I still need to find a used distributor and some plug wires (trying to do the swap on the cheap). Will try and find time this week to visit the other local JY.

not sure how much it matters, but it's a 351w HO. she runs great, gets about 15 mpg even, but I get a small amount of oil from the top of the dipstick tube, not enough to noticably drop the level just enough to drip down and make a mess.

I haven't used a vacuum gauge to tune an engine in probably 25 years. I always grab my timing light and use my ear. After finding and tightening 3 loose bolts on the intake/exhaust manifolds I decided to grab the vacuum gauge and retune it. What a difference! I had no idea I was so far off with the timing light. From now on it's the vacuum gauge only for me.

Well got my turn signal witch replaced. I also did the valve cover gasket and the cam push rod cover gasket. Hung my new exhaust and found that I needed the donut gasket replaced (yeah I know what you are think ) but I was lucky on this replacement. I ran the truck at idle for about 15 minuts and got the exhaust heated up spray some pb blast on the two nuts and started cranking. I was thinking get the nuts off would be so lucky on my parts right. After alot of some choice words and grunting the nuts didnt come of. Your thinking the bolts broke right? Wrong the whole stud came out of the exhaust manifolt clean as a whistle. WIN on my part so got now studs and nuts and got the donut gasket replaced and sounds GOOD :-). now just need to get my exals back on monday and put the new rear shoes and drums on. Then she will be ready for the pavement.
