I changed the hinge pins and bushings in my passenger door. Now you don't have to lift the door every time you close it. :)
I love getting these little pain in the butt things done. It gives you the feeling like you really accomplished something. |
powerwashed the rear frame today as the bed is removed to replace both tanks... ouch....
Ordered a gas tank today.. |
I power washed her with an old electric pressure washer. May I say pressure it has not? It was real clean and pretty but then it rained, and the roads got muddy. At least now it's waxed so the mud will slide off easier.
The day before I hooked up my PA system. Found an old car radio around the house wired it up to the PA and used it to power a speaker in front of the windshield wiper fluid container. I no longer have an ashtray as I placed (forcefully) it in there. But being able to tell the idiots int front of me that the light is green is nice. |
Diamond in the Rough
OK here is the list since I purchased the truck. Keep in mind this is my secondary vehicle and the budget is almost non-existent.
1. Removed Hog Hunting Stickers from Rear window. 2. Removed Naked lady sitting on rebel Flag sticker from rear window. 3. Removed 6" of spacer on front bumper mounts ?????? 4. Removed pinstripes from both sides of truck and tailgate. 5. Cleaned and Armoralled engine compartment. 6. Re-drilled and raised height of rear bumper brackets to accommodate existing 3" body lift. 7. Changed oil filter and oil. 8. Changed air filter. 9. Installed Tachometer. 10. Replaced linkage in tool box to open with one handle 11. Procured Factory 16" rim for spare. Still need 33" tire or equal for spare if anyone local has one. 12. Traded for a high Lift jack (brand new never used) 13. RE-Plugged front tire (slow leak) 14. Inspected and adjusted rear brakes- Now the parking brake works. Progress Pics are in gallery if interested. I know none of this is major, but as stated above every little improvement feels good. Thanks for all the tech info from you guys. This is just the start... http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/w...D/CIMG0623.jpg |

i sadly dont have a writeup, but it was alot more simple than u may think, i just cut off the old vinyl since it was cracked and nasty, i put the spray foam on the pad to smooth out the holes, sanded it flat and smooth then got a yard of vinyl from the fabric store and used M super 77 spray adheasive and a heat gun
if u want to do this u NEED the heat gun, it just takes heat and patience to get it looking right |
i plan on doing this to my door panels and armrests this weekend i already got the panels off

Want to hear a good one? The belt tensioner bolt snapped in the bracket on my '95. I caught it just in time before the belt was totally off. What a nightmare that was today. I had to pull the entire alt/air pump bracket out of the truck. I was able to get the remainder of the bolt out of the bracket. I decided to change a leaky T-stat housing while I had good access to that area. I installed a new tensioner and put everything back together.

Well, my buddies brought me some spray paint from Meijer they thought is close to what I need for my chop-top Lincoln project, well it was actually way off, Lincoln uses this blue-teal-sparkly stuff, and the cans they got me are this baby blue color. Tis absolutely gorgeous color tho, very bright and glossy, so I figured while I can't use it on the Town Car I still got a whole truck that I can repaint - after all, by now about everyone has a spray-bombed black truck, not many of the baby-blue color tho... So I sprayed the bottom of the doors and the bed, and I liked it, then decided that repainting the whole truck may be a bit over the top, but a nice two-tone job may work out nice. So I spend the afternoon masking stuff off and spraying and waiting to dry and spraying again, tis all done now and tis drying out (the nice breeze should help with that), tomorrow the masking tape comes off and pics will be taken...
