Right now i have the pipe coming out from right behind the cab pointing back. How hard is it to rebuild a carb? Ive done numerous lawn tractor carbs, do you think i have the expertise? Is there a website for a how-to? Thanks for all your help

GO to the auto parts store and buy the manual on that carb.

If you can do a lawnmower carb you can do a truck carb. They're easier then they look.

The carburetor kit should include complete instructions with illustrations. Some kits may have gaskets, etc. for other versions so carefully match up the new parts with your originals (the differences may be very slight).

I think it has a 2BBL carb on it now, but i was thinking about putting on a 4BBL since it seems like it was a factory option at the time. Im pretty sure the 2BBL was a motorcraft carb and the 4BBL was a holley 4180C. Would this provide more performance? Is this worth the work and cost? What would it intail? A new intake manifold?

why dont you just get an aftermarket carb built for what you have in mind... you could get a q-jet if saving gas is what you want, or have a holly built up with performance in mind.

you can buy an adapter to put the 4bb on the 2bb intake, with marginal improvements in power, to really benefit you need a whole new intake. i had a dual plane alum weiand intake and loved it. buying an aftermarket aluminum intake will also shave about 20lbs off the motor. i had a holley 670 i think, 4bb on my 351m with the aluminum intake, when it tore up i went with an off the shelf edelbrock 600 performer carb. didn't have quite as much ooomph as the holley, but the edelbrock was easier to maintain and keep adjusted.

It sounds like you have bought a winner ! The F - 350 has always been a great truck in my opinion and I am sure you will appreciate this truck the longer you have it. Good luck with it and you got a heck of a good deal !

I tried to read the tag on the carb but it is so worn i can barely make out what it says. What were the options for carbs for this truck? It is a 2BBL, so is it a motorcraft? I cant order a kit until i figure out what carb it is.

if you get an LMC catalog its got all that info in it just fyi... i dont have mine handy or i would help ya.

boggerted 06-04-2007 07:44 PM

Awesome-is LMC a website or do they have a phone number? Im definetly gonna get one of them

jdgreen72 06-04-2007 08:58 PM

squeeze every drop out of it, rust buffs out with a saws-all, and as long as it runs, it runs.

i believe it is lmctruck.com they have catalog online and you can order a hard copy for free. they have lots of good parts, some hard to find ones, but also have some high prices on some things. i also got a catalog from one of our sponsors, National Parts Depot. they also have free catalog and lots of good parts.

jdgreen72 06-05-2007 04:48 PM

i get yelled at for mentioning lmc on here, but i won't yell at you, seems lots are up tight about ONLY using our sponsors. we wouldn't be here were it not for our sponsors, but like you, i have found lmc sometimes is the only ones with the parts.

CaptGuz 06-05-2007 08:06 PM

the way i look at it... our sponsers may make this site available but they aren't building my truck nor paying my salary so frankly i'll buy my parts from where-ever-the-he** i want to! and lmc's catalog has a lot of good information in it too and its really handy when you need to see how peices fit.

boggerted 06-10-2007 08:54 PM

Im pretty sure now that its a motorcraft 2BBL carb. I also got a f250 for free from a friend that is in great shape, but im gonna use it for a donor truck. I am gonna swap the bed from the 250 to the 350. You think it will work?
