So we got everything reinstalled around 3am... took it for a test run to get some new numbers but with my foot on the floor; the speedo reading 60mph my boost gauge was only telling me 9psi.... Diehard and I plan to get back at it tomorrow afternoon and we also plan to get our final numbers posted by the end of the day. We think we have a solution for the boost leak, just a simple reposition of the spyder.

Quite the disappointing event to end the night... 5 hours of work to end like that...

Got the compressor housing back on and bolted the 1.0 housing on.

I do believe this picture has the outlet back on the backside. So the turbo is now back together.

Got the turbo positioned and reinstalled.

Everything is back on and she's ready to go!

It is manufactured that way to provide clearance around the power steering pump.

That's what we said. It's manufactured that way...

Looking good.

Dylan thanks for the photos I am sorry it going to take alittle more work to get it dialed in. But looking good! :-X22 It is hard to tell by your photo but the clamp on the syder to turbo doesn't look right. Now I am sure you were planning on doing this anyway but make sure all them new fancy lower syder & plenum clamps are loose until you have the syder to turbo sealed. Check the oring for damage.

I can't wait to hear how this set up works out for you. Because I have a feeling you should be the same results as the guys running a ported compressor housing but better boost #'s. But what I want to know about is do you get any surge when towing down the highway. Do you tow? If so please post up after towing with this combo.

There is one more thing that I think would help compliment this set up is a Turbo Master w.g. actuator. I run one and I am very happy with it. But mind you the stock w.g. actuator is actually way more refined in doing the job. But T.M actuator gives you way more adjustabilty. So it is somewhere in between a stock w.g. actuator and a non waste gated housing. Just something to think about.

Thanks for the advice and pointers! Diehard is actually the one doing the new plenums, when I posted the first pictures of all the new toys I listed who has what.

Diehard got a ported housing with his Beans chip back January and in stock tune the ported really has no performance increase except for the elimination of surge.

I actually plan on getting the Big Head Wastegate. I believe it's almost the same actuator as the one you recommended.

The Big Head actuator is like the stock one just with a bigger spring in it and it vacuum operated like the stock one and is a spring-loaded canister. The Turbo-Master is only spring loaded No vacuum. T.M. lets turbine inlet pressure is retained up to the preset point of bypass. So it is actually totally different that stock or Big Head set up. The T.M is more like a dump valve if that makes sense to you. I don't want to post a link due to the seller is not a sponsor here. But do a google on it and see what you think.

This might help to actually see the difference. This is my E99 turbo with 1.0 housing, WW and TM.

What is the difference between the big head and the turbo master?

Dylan you are killing me here. :-roll I explained the best I could 2 post ago and I think if you compare the photo of your turbo and the photo of mine you should see the differents.
Dude put down the bong and reread... please http://www.420magazine.com/forums/im...ies/smoke2.gif

Put down the bong and reread? You gotta be kidding me. Im thinkin' you should put down the bong Mr. 420magazine.com.....

I missed your post comparing the two cause you post the picture... I was thinking of looking into that wastegate until that little comment so I'm gonna stick with the Big Head. Thanks!!

DHamSTER 11-16-2013 12:24 PM

Last night when we tried to put the downpipe clamp back on we noticed that the nut would slide back and forth on the bolt, slightly, so you couldn't torque it down tight. SO this morning we got up and solved the spyder issue from last night and of course had to take that clamp off again to put the new exhaust on.
This is what we found and some minor fab work by Diehard (Because we couldn't find a new nut to fit the stock bolt on the clamp so we found a new nut and bolt to take its place):

WOW.... Don't go getting your panties in a wad. Because at first I thought that was the case but I looked at the time stamps and I posted at 11:02 & 11:08 and you posted at 11:21. So then I thought well he is either stupid or stoned. And I am pretty sure you are NOT stupid so I thought I would just joke with you about it. Now as far as what I do with my bong has to do with me trying to be helpful and give you the best answer I could. Why did my answer come across as the ramblings of a stoner?? And since you can't take a little teasing I am sorry for trying to be helpful.

And for what it worth I am glad you got your problems solved. Or should I say I am glad that Diehard fixed it.

DHamSTER 11-16-2013 12:54 PM

HAHA either stupid or stoned? Come on man.... How about neither? How about I just missed your comment.... Your little stoned joke was too far. It's not the fact I can't take a joke, it's the fact that it's over the internet....

I'll let Diehard know you applauded his fix....

Don't mind me...just passing through...watching the latest project thread...enjoying the humor and friendly ribbing we do to each other....giving reps to Ed for showing patience to the new guy as he's inducted into the Brotherhood family....thinking maybe more smilies should be used in posts.....nothing to see here.....
