Personally, I'm not big on being brand loyal on batteries, I just fit the largest I can.
There's more than enough room in these trucks to fit a group 31 commercial battery, which tends to be much higher in reserve capacity and cold cranking amps than just about anything else you can put in these trucks. And, they tend to be built better internally, much more vibration resistant than an automotive battery. Personally, the last few batteries I've bought have been Caterpillar. |
Duralast is made my Johnson Controls the last time I checked. Great company. Probably the best auto battery company.
Just find a company that makes batteries that you like, and pick a brand that company provides batteries for. |
I would Recomend Motorcraft Batteries as well.
Depending on the engine and charging system, they are usually under $100 dollars and with a 8 year warrantee, you can't go wrong with that, in my opinion. |
the NAPA down here in AZ switch battery manufacturers lately , they use to buy from exide
and now the buy from johnson controls , might be with all NAPAs |
Not sure about other battery brands, but I've noticed that in the five years I've had my Optima, I've not once had any corrosion appear on any of the terminals. It's a 34/78 with both top and side posts. Usually on other regular batteries, I see a bunch of white fluffy junk on the clamps and posts.
@cj06 I'll swing by my local NAPA tomorrow and ask about that. |
The best thing about Optima is they can be drained multiple times. If your alternator goes bad (2 times for me with Advance lifetime warranty)and you drive unknowingly until it's dead, or you drain it trying to start a project or repaired vehicle(more than a couple times ;), it's still almost like new after recharge. Try that with a wet cell. Then when you try to return it , no luck , you killed it.
