Congrats Sam! Nothing like raising a boy (that I know of so far). Mine is 2.5 now.

95_Dually 08-17-2012 12:32 AM

I remember you posting on here when he was born. Thank you Brownie.

How have you been?

Brown Falcon 08-17-2012 12:45 AM

I've been busy. Taking 15 credits this summer dual enrolled with the local community college and Oregon State.
My son just started potty training a week and a half ago. I never realized how stressful and aggravating that can be! Enjoy the time you have when he can't run away or talk back to you! :-drink

95_Dually 08-17-2012 01:01 AM

Thanks Evan, but I have 2 8 year old boys already. The arguments are frequent and I often feel defeated. LOL

427 fordman 08-18-2012 06:21 AM

good morning Nate.

DIYMechanic 08-18-2012 06:22 AM

Good Morning Darin. Am I wrong in thinking that today is the day for your axle swap?

427 fordman 08-18-2012 06:26 AM

Nope, you're right. Just getting ready to head to the shop.

427 fordman 08-18-2012 06:27 AM

I missed my phone call last nite:-X17, but he should be here around noon, give or take:D

DIYMechanic 08-18-2012 06:29 AM

Well good luck on the swap! It sounds like you have a good head start, so I would imagine that will help a lot. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. The TTB seems like a real pain to work on compared to a solid axle, IMO. I can understand keeping it though.

427 fordman 08-18-2012 06:35 AM

It is a pain compared to a 60, cost vs. need doesn't work for me since mine is in good shape. Honestly if you can find one for a grand around here, it would be a steal.

DIYMechanic 08-18-2012 06:44 AM

Yeah for that kind of money, the cost vs need definitely lands on the side of "cost", lol. I got $850 for the one I sold a few months ago. The guy got a good deal, but it needed to be gone over real well before it would be in good enough shape to go into that guy's truck. He had a cherry '97 F-250 with less than 80,000 original miles on it. :eek:That thing was immaculate!

fordpride 08-18-2012 06:45 AM

Good morning Nate and Darin

DIYMechanic 08-18-2012 06:48 AM

Morning Mike!

tshrager 08-18-2012 06:52 AM

Mornin Mike, Darin and Nate

DIYMechanic 08-18-2012 06:56 AM

LOL, Morning Todd. This is starting to sound like the Waltons! "Goodnight Johnboy!"LOL.

DIYMechanic 08-18-2012 07:07 AM

Alright guys I'm out. I have to go figure out how to load a F-350 chassis onto a trailer with no axles under it and nothing with which to pick up up onto the trailer...:-X15

fordpride 08-18-2012 07:27 AM

Morning Todd

jack up the frame till it is higher than the trailer. slide a 4X4 under it, with a log on each side to hold it up. do the same on the other end. back the trailer under, jack the frame up off the wood and knock the logs out.

95_Dually 08-18-2012 02:35 PM

Hello all. Good luck with the swap Darin. Looking forward to some pics.

427 fordman 08-18-2012 05:45 PM

Good afternoon/evening Todd, Sam and Mike. Had to say that since I missed this morning hello. Our swapping of parts is done. Time for re-assembly!

95_Dually 08-18-2012 06:06 PM

You are moving right along.

Yeah that is what I was hoping to have done, but I was going to use 55 gallon drums on both sides. However, the 4x4 would have had to be 12' or so long and I didn't have anything long enough. SO what I ended up doing was jacking it up high enough to back the trailer under it, then moving the jackstands as far forward as I could without the truck tipping over (ended up being just aft of the back of the bed) and backing the trailer under it that far. After that I set that end of the truck down on a 4 wheeled movers dolly. Jacked the other end up with a big hydraulic floor jack (which sank into the ground slightly where the truck was sitting) and backed the trailer under the truck, rolling it onto the trailer with the movers dolly.

Not pretty, not the easiest, but hey, it works, lol. The truck is gone. Just the parts that I wanted to keep remain. Hah, there wasn't much left. The scrapyard only got 1360 lbs, lol. The rest of the truck lives on... :-drink

Evening Darin

DIYMechanic 08-18-2012 07:04 PM

Ev'nin Mike... Darin, Sam.

95_Dually 08-18-2012 07:12 PM

That is awesome Nate. I pictured that in my head. They used the magnet to remove it from your trailer?

95_Dually 08-18-2012 07:14 PM

Good evening Mike, Nate and Darin.

fordpride 08-18-2012 07:59 PM

Yeah it was a little sketchy looking, but hey, whatever works right!? I got it done!

No, actually they just used a skid steer and forks. Just stuck the forks into the cab and lifted the thing off by the roof. Picked it straight up and I just drove out from under it. It took him a lot less time to unload it than it took me to load it, lol. Guess he did have the use of all those horses though...

Spent the rest of the afternoon with my family at an event for my dad's employer. They sell used aircraft parts and have a charter flight company. Free airplane rides, a self guided tour of their recently restored DC3 and an aerial candy drop for the kiddos. Oh and they fed us ribs and BBQ chicken. A good time was had by all.

95_Dually 08-18-2012 09:31 PM

Sounds like a good time.

427 fordman 08-19-2012 06:06 AM

I did the same thing Nate, spent the afternoon with family. We went to the demo, then sat at dad's and bs'd for a while. They went to the food and dance downtown, I went home and slept. Now I'm up and ready to go to work on my truck.

Oh, good morning to all!:D

DIYMechanic 08-19-2012 06:38 AM

Morning Darin.

95_Dually 08-19-2012 04:36 PM

Afternoon Darin and Nate.

Darin, you are an early riser I see. Probably a little excited about finishing the truck too.

427 fordman 08-19-2012 07:01 PM

Afternoon Sam. Ya, I get up at 5ish every morning, little earlier sometimes. Best time of the day, nobody bothering me.:D

95_Dually 08-19-2012 07:06 PM
