sometimes it sucks when you can't get the right parts. for that model year. now on the class 8 trucks they go by the last 6 on the VIN. then they can tell ya where it was built and how long you've had it.

Sparky83 01-02-2013 08:18 PM

some of the things for my truck they gotta use the vin for too...

fire240 01-02-2013 08:25 PM

What sucked for me with the van me and my brother had if it was chassis related we had to go to ford. If it was related to th ebody we had no one to really go to except a one or two places that deal with after market bodies. One of the places I deal with was where I had to go to get tag lights for the rear of it. Then again it was an old ambulance.

Sparky83 01-02-2013 08:51 PM

sound like usual to me...

FORD RANGER 01-02-2013 09:02 PM

yeah for a fire truck or ambulances are harder. because the have 4 or 5 mfg. co. to go thru. irrregardless of the base model is. or the frame/eng/body is...

fire240 01-02-2013 09:14 PM

That is very true jack. Makes it difficult for sure. Especially when the company that built the body goes out of business. Not to mention teh headache of the wiring on them.

Sparky83 01-02-2013 09:17 PM

i think its sad when mfgs just stop making parts hoping they can force you into buying something new...

FORD RANGER 01-02-2013 10:21 PM

thank you and it is true. i hate working on something you can't get parts for. much like the climacab apu's went south... yeah exactly guys.. specially emt's and firefighters need to get the rigs fixed. they have to go at anytime. and it has to be ready to go.

fire240 01-02-2013 11:25 PM

That it does Jack. when we had our ambo it had been retired as an ambo. to old to run anymore. with the N/A 7.3 in it it wasn't fast but it would go.
