Lacey and Karen are kind of cute....

Good morning to all.:-wink

POPAJON 01-15-2019 07:49 AM

Thx Gerry didn't know about that tube. I hope I can get one from the Ford dealer in Listowel. The filter should be no problem. We do have a trans shop here BIUT I have heard he is very protective of his stock, as in he doesn't like ppl coming in and buying parts to fix or rebuild their transmissions and WILL over charge you for the part you need. I went to him for a 4x4 trans pan and he wanted $40 for a used one.

POPAJON 01-15-2019 07:54 AM

Hey George... I love Corner Gas.. Lacy especially she has a nice butt. My gut is getting better to , still not gonna chance doing the brake stuff yet....soon. tho. I am however getting at the lighter stuff. The trans is on the work bench and at waist height so I can ROLL it around as needed. Gonna post some pics of my rebuild progress to.

Jigger2020 01-15-2019 07:58 AM

Pop if you cant get the pick-up tube its not a huge problem, for what ure doing , a 4x2 filter will work,

George the cast all play a good part, even Wanda can look good :)

POPAJON 01-16-2019 06:48 PM

Well I have some feelers out for that trans filter extension tube. We'll see what happens. In the mean time I will finish tearing down the C6. Got side tracked today with some wine bottling with the old girl, hair cut, and fueling up the Doge. Soooo tomorrow , the girdle goes on early and out to the shop. It's gonna be a cold night over here in Cranbrook, they are calling for -16C and Sunday -20. Good thing I am inside. Well almost bedtime guys .... y'all stay warm and play safe.

Jigger2020 01-16-2019 08:37 PM

Gonna be cold here tonight Pop, -28*C I think,
get the girdle on & keep plugging away man, there are a lot of parts to clean
take some pictures of things as you rip it apart , for later

POPAJON 01-17-2019 02:50 PM

lol Gerry, I don't think that the girdle will help with the chill in the air. Yes I do intent to take pics as I go along with the tear down. Ya never know when you may need reference for something you have NEVER done before. I just posted a request on the main FTE section for that extension tube to. I know you said it isn't really nessesary, BUT what the hay. If I can find one why not eh? I did have good intentions again to get out to the shop... Damm company keeps showing up for a coffee and what not. If the ppl that show up are ppl I can see anytime... BOOM OUT I got things to do. But these are friends I haven't seen in a coons age. lol Anyway... yeah It be still on the chilly side over here -7C and a bit of a breeze to. I'll have another go at that C6 tomorrow. I will hide out there.. as in CLOSE AND LOCK the door. !!!! Y'all have a great day, stay warm and play safe.

Jigger2020 01-17-2019 03:28 PM

Yes, if you can get a pick-up tube then by all means get it,
hope you have a better day tomorrow,
you cant ignore your friends, good friends are hard to find

POPAJON 01-19-2019 09:39 AM

Got a reply on that C6 extension tube. Some guy in the states has 2 of them USED. Take a guess as to what he wants for them!!!! $100 each AND I have to buy both of them !!!!! I was polite and said NOPE. Anyways got kinda carried away tearing down the C6 yesterday. Took some pics of the parts and all the bits. That video from Ken Collns is really helpful BUT you still have to use some common sense. Out late last night with the old girl and some of the girlfriends... I AM NOT moving real fast or far today. Couchterfield day. lol I will see if I can post up some pics. Gerry the steels and clutches are in GREAT shape as are the reast of the parts. I still have to tear down the valve body and govenor to check those out. The case goes to My buddy in Guelph for a good jet wash on Tuesday after my 4 moth check up. I do hope I can remember how this thing goes back together. lol Just take my time and if I am NOT sure. call Gerry.

Jigger2020 01-19-2019 09:58 AM

Pop, a tube will show up when you need it, ure wise to turn down that 100. deal
I might have one here, or George will have one,
keep the valve body together til you are ready to clean & install the shift kit,
dont take it apart til you can finish it in one day .......
dont loose the pin in the modulator valve,
yes the internals look good from here, no heavy scoring on anything eh
take a good look at your 'sprag' one way roller clutch in the rear drum,
make sure you get it back in the same way ....
take it easy chum

Jigger2020 01-19-2019 10:07 AM

before you send the case out to be cleaned, remove the intermediate servo & the shifter/park linkage,
there's a case seal in there to replace
hold the kick down lever while you loosen off that 1/2 inch nut, dont break it
dont dunk the neutral safety switch in the wash tank, just clean it off
get him the clean the extension housing too

POPAJON 01-19-2019 11:14 AM

will do Gerry thanks. I must apologize to the person who posted, what I thought was a reply to my inquiry for the extension tubes, It was a reply to another thread for doors. My bad. He hasne't replied to me yet.

GLR 01-19-2019 02:14 PM

Hey Ger, did you see where Glen Wood passed away on Friday? Sad day in the area down here.

Jigger2020 01-19-2019 02:54 PM

George I didnt know that, he will be missed

Jigger2020 01-20-2019 09:25 AM

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...6cc21e59cc.jpg

GLR 01-20-2019 09:38 AM

No 4x4 transmissions, Ger.. Except what's in my 86 4x4 plow truck.

Jigger2020 01-20-2019 09:49 AM

K .

Jigger2020 01-20-2019 07:29 PM

Pop, I think you could make the pick-up tube for about 2 bucks, thats what I'd do,
if it ever warms up here I'll go check my 20ft sea box

loudfords 01-20-2019 07:41 PM

Jigger2020 01-21-2019 07:17 AM

No school buses today, too cold with the wind chill ..........

POPAJON 01-21-2019 12:00 PM

OKAY ... finally found an OEM 4x4 filter AND tube. Pretty close by to. In Lucknow shipped to my door for $50. I know some would say THAT is expensive, yes it is BUT it is still cheaper than buying through the inter net at U.S. prices plus shipping. He has to dig it out of his NOS parts but will let me know when it is on its way. Thanks Gerry for all your help. Much appreciated. NOW back to work. DRs appointment tomorrow a.m. then up to Guelph to see Harold @ engines from Hal. Haven't been there in a while and I will get him to jet wash the trans case while we chat and have a coffee and cookies. More pics tomorrow. Stay warm and play safe guys .

Jigger2020 01-21-2019 12:14 PM

50 is good Pop, that all sounds great, good luck at the docs

POPAJON 01-21-2019 04:59 PM

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...ca8f441963.jpg

Jigger2020 01-21-2019 05:12 PM

The bushing is for the yoke on the driveshaft, you probably wont use it,
indication would show that the yoke is all scored & the rear seal was leaking,
the smaller bushing goes in the pump for the neck on the torque
all the new clutches & the band will have to soak in new trans fluid for at least 15 minutes
use atf type that is marked on your dip stick

Jigger2020 01-21-2019 05:16 PM

I cant see the outside of the case but pull the steel plugs out for washing & blow drying
the plugs are a 7/16 socket
if ure going to do any grinding on the outside of the case, do it before cleaning

5_labsownus 01-23-2019 07:23 AM

Happy Hump Day Ontario Gerry and all passers by.
Did you figure out the seal?
Looks like an output seal. Kit may have more than 1 for other applications or tail shaft housings.

POPAJON 01-24-2019 09:22 AM

well got the trans all cleaned up and back home. Boy is Harold busy. He has a goat path IN the office... and down the length of his shop !!!! A 1000 and 1 things on the go ,ppl coming and going, bring stuff in and ordering parts, AND yet he found time to jet wash my C6. Blew out driveways yesterday and got soaked to the A** doing them. BUT a HOT shower, fuzzy pants and sweater and a hot breakfast and all good now.. I have another set back tho. Our son J.R. had a heart attack yesterday at work. They transferred him to St. Marys hospital in Kitchener for surgery, an MRI will be done this a.m. to have look see what is going on. They have told him a pacemaker will probably be implanter tomorrow. So far he is doing ok and in good spirits. His life style will have to take a BIG change now... NO smoking, watch his fried stuff and fast food intake. Kid is only 45, I am told he is in the BEST Hospital for heart patience. They train heart surgeons from all over at St. Marys. Anyway

sorry for dumping on you guys. Y'all stay warm and dry and play safe.

GLR 01-24-2019 09:30 AM

Best wishes and prayers for your son Jon. 45 is way too young.

I see the C-6 has ribs in the case, Gerry would know for sure but I think that is the best one. I've got a couple with no ribs.

Jigger2020 01-24-2019 09:52 AM

Pop, I wish your son the best of care & health,
the man is young but I guess it depends on his life style eh....

George that's right about the ribbed case

Pop did they blow the case out after the wash,
maybe you should blow it out again before you start to assemble it ....

POPAJON 01-24-2019 11:06 AM

Thanks for the wishes and prayers guys. His life style was fast paced.. 50,60 70 hour work weeks and fast food suppers. Smoker to. THAT will all change now. Gerry after the jet wash it was power rinsed with clean water and blown dry.. then put in a BIG bag for transporting home. Harold knows what can happen to a transmission when dirt of any kind gets into it. Again I learn something.. Didn't know about the ribs on the C6 being the better case. I will get to the trans when we get more info on the boys condition and what they are going to do and when. Again thanks George and Gerry.

GLR 01-24-2019 11:16 AM

At least your boy has someone that cares about him, Jon. That smoking will have to stop and will be hard for him to do so.
Recently, in NY, there was a 48 year old ( I knew him and his family) who was shunned by his family do to his drinking, smoking and drug use. He was found dead on a laundromat floor. Choked on his own vomit or some say a heart attack. Family wants nothing to do with him so the body will probably be cremated and put in a "pauper.s grave"

Jigger2020 01-24-2019 01:08 PM

Yes take care of yourself & the family fist Pop,
the trans will be there .....

very sad George but we know it happens almost every day :(

I quit smoking 33 yrs ago, just after my son was born, my wife didn't let me smoke in the house anymore, I'd had enough by then anyways

one of my favorite things after I quit smoking is that I didnt have to hand cigs out to my friends LOL

GLR 01-24-2019 01:12 PM

Never did get into smoking, Ger except for a pipe or cigar now and then. Last pipe was when I was listening to Cornell U winning the National Lacrosse championship in 1976. Now drinking that's another story :-X19 About 20 years now of no alky...

Jigger2020 01-24-2019 01:26 PM

congrats on giving up booze, I'm trying right now, its been 3 weeks ....... I still think about it
for the last 5 or 6 yrs I only drank on weekends unless it was a special occasion ......
I like the taste of it but I dont like what it does to me

GLR 01-24-2019 01:31 PM

I over did it at times . Surprised I never got a DWI. Youngest son never got into drinking because he didn't like what it did to him. Glad he found out early. Older boy lost his license for a year. Hope he learned his lesson.

Jigger2020 01-24-2019 01:35 PM

When I was a kid I got 4 impaired charges, 2 in the same weekend, then I lost my permit for 5 yrs .....
bad times huh ......... you were lucky

POPAJON 01-24-2019 05:01 PM

The wife and I quit smoking 21 years ago and glad we did. She is a wine drinker and I like an occasional vodka and soda with a twist of lime BUT Beer, Bud Lite, is my go to beverage besides water. I don't drink near as much as I used to. A box of beer back in the day would last just that, a day. Now, unless the guys show up, a box will last 2-3 months. I beat 2 DUI charges so I don't take chances anymore. Wish I had the money I spent in hotels, on strippers and foolish drinking sprees. Be well off. lol OH well live and learn. Son is NOT a happy camper, NO MRI. The Doc was on holidays and is now behind schedual, so no surgery tomorrow and he has to stay in the hospital til Tuesday. Good for a rest. I think they will get something going on Monday. well the old girl is home and supper will be ready soon. TTYl Play safe guys.

Jigger2020 01-24-2019 08:03 PM

Good to hear your son is resting Pop, welcome to Ontario's health care system, its broken

We all should get together & talk about the money we wasted on booze :)
