Beautiful work Charlie!! I too may have to "borrow" some of your fine ideas. I agree that the original Ford "core support" was WEAK! and needed the truss rods to keep it tight and straight, but what you've done is WAY beyond that and looks AWESOME :-X04 I just love being a Darksider, cause we're not hindered by "rules" of how it was from the factory. We can fix some of the mistakes they made in these fine lookin rides. They were beautiful as far as the lines and curves, but could have used some modern touches and such.

It is so much fun working metal - I like the conversations I have with it as we form a piece.

when my engine blew just after breakin last fall, we removed the hood, unbolted the fenders & inners at the firewall, and the two radiator support bolts and lifted the whole front clip off (grill, radiator & A/C condenser as well) . My gravel pan is just bolted to the fenders.. welded it would be stronger.

paint touchup is always a challenge, but as long a there is a tape line, things will be easy to do on or off the truck.

Nope, this is a small back window truck...the BW is living out in the storage garage waiting it's turn after the 50 merc...or not.

Here's a diagram that I worked up for a meber on the forum so I thought that I would share it with all. Actual dimensions are not on the diagram because they are dictated by the actual radiator being used and the width of the OEM sheetmetal.

So much amazing work is shown on this site. Too much "stress" for me looking at it all. :)

My wise old grandma used to always say that "only a fool sweats when he eats"...kinda the same analogy here, if you get "stress" from doing what you enjoy then there's something wrong.

Ain't no stress when you are blessed to be employed, a roof over your head, a wife of 37 years and a neato Truck in the shop......:-jammin
