There is only one transfer case, it is bolted to the back of the transmission. The units that come off the front and back of the transfer case are the driveshafts. At the other end of each driveshaft are the axles. On your truck the front and rear axles are both solid, as in they have solid tubes welded to the center housing (the differential carriers) and do not flex independently of each other.

The 80-up Bronco's are equipped with a TTB (twin traction beam) front end. The TTB is a type of independent front suspension....each side of the front axle is capable of moving independent of the other. It rides better but gives up some strength.

Your talking about the driveshaft. what cookie88 said was your front axle(the long thing that goes from one side of the truck to the other, and the tires are on it) is a solid one piece not a newer TTB front suspension.

Oh Lord!

Keep asking questions, get some books and go find someone who is into 4x4's. That's the best advice I can offer besides don't do anything to this Bko until you're knowledgeable with what it is you want to do. Either that or pay a so called professional to do it right.

cookie so you are saying that with the right lift and preperations that 39s will work. I dont care about little things like u joints and wheel bearings. Does any one know a good site for lifts or should i go to ebay and get one used?
Thanks Dan

Broncograveyard.com would be a really good place to start, but if you consider cutting your fenders then you wouldn't need over a 6" lift, but no cutting means you need a 9" lift.
