Every GM that I or anyone that I know have ever owned has been a P.O.S. Many, many dealer trips to get it repaired. Lots of stupid garbage breaking that shouldn't have. They should have been 1-10 on the list!!!!

As far as I'm concerned the list is less than truthful. While it is true that the NHTSA has the listed amounts of complaints for each vehicle, the existence of the complaint doesn't mean that it is valid.
Worse each individual complaint may have multiple enties. I was looking at the Excursion category and one case had four entries, each with the same concern. Then when complainants say things like this: Make: FORD Model: EXCURSION Year: 2000 Complaint Number: 552640 Summary: THE DESIGN OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION WITH A SOLID FRONT AXLE IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE VEHICLE, STEERING STABILITY AND INTEGRITY OF HANDLING ARE DANGEROUS, ILL DESIGNED AND VERY DISCONCERTING TO DRIVE. *MJS Make: FORD Model: EXCURSION Year: 2000 Complaint Number: 550795 Summary: POOR DESIGN CAUSES VEHICLE TO EXPERIENCE SERIOUS SHAKING/VIBRATING WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 55 MPH. It was built on the same platform as the trucks, the only real difference is the body. I think those claims were made by "tree huggers".

Some of you will note that one persons success story with maker vehicle can be anothers horror story.
|
But then, you have to think this way, how many people (besides my parents...grrr...stupid CRV, traded my '95 F-150 eddie bauer for it) actually pay attention to that list or any other for that reason, if they like the vehicle, they'll got test drive it, if they like it still after the test drive, then they buy it.

This list in way way correlates to either JD Powers ratings or consumer reports. And those are scientific whereas this one isn't. I wouldn't put too much stock into it.
