Gears I would do 4.10s or 4.30s. I wish we had that in our 02 F250 but the 3.73 Limited slip does fine but we are running 285 75 R16s but we do pull heavy loads to. I want to upgrade the transmission cooler on ours too. I belive if you get a tuner then it will do great for shift points on the transmission. Everybody here recomends the Mikes 5 star tuner but we don't have that we have the Bully Dog Chip and it does great.

With a supercharger making more low end torque for you, I still think the 4.30s will be enough gear, even with taller tires.

Our '09 F-250 SD automatic has 4.30's with the stock 245/75/17 tires. It's turning 2000 rpm @ 60 mph.
As someone else suggested earlier, if you're gonna' go with a taller tire than the original equipment you'll want to go with at least a 4.56 and a 4.88 would probably be better. |
I would say so too. 4.30s are more then fine.

I'm going to drive it Friday, and will see how the Ex drives. If there seem to be any want of power, I'll order up the gears. Looking to go with the 4.30's.
Any one else like or dislike their 4.30's with their V10? Garry in AK |
I have a '08 F350 crew cab, long bed with 275-65-20" tires which are 34.2 inches tall. I have the 4:30's and sometimes wish I had 4:56's especially when towing, just for that extra oomph. Personally I would go with the 4:56 gears.

really? damn. my friends 99 v10 F350 auto has 4.30s and stock 265s and runs about 2000rpm at 70 on the highway

how to tell what gears
Great discussion! Wondering where I figure out what gears I have in my 2000 F350 V10 truck. I think they are stock, but I am the 3rd owner and cannot be sure.

Post a pic of the ID tag on when you open the drivers side door, has the VIN number and a bunch of codes on it

acf6, thanks for the reply,
Seems I cannot upload a pic, might need to pay for membership to do that, new here so figuring it out. I did add a pic to my garage so the sticker pic should show there. |
Exact same question i'm waiting to be answered Scott on uploading pictures also.

You have to upload then to a photo hosting site (I use photobucket) and then copy and paste the IMG code here

For everyone's info, please post engine, trans, gears and tire sizes when post engine rpms to help us all decide.
Thanks for all the great info and input guys! Garry in Kodiak, AK |
Thank You Acf6
