Hold on a minute, you didn't by chance just google this:

79 ford dana 44 front image

to come up with that picture? Just wondering, because it was on the first page there. If so you might want to look a little closer. There are more than one kingpin D60 fronts in that little group of pictures. Get back to me when you have some facts.

I seriously cannot be the only guy on this board that can discern a D44 high pinion ford hub from the 60 version. They are totally different looking.

Sorry guys, did not mean to start a pissing contest. I just went out and found the following numbers 610023 2 and 3 54 D81AYD. On a tag between two bolts on the cover. Help any? Thanks, Bill

I have literally thousands of pics "googled" so it's very possible, but you still have yet to refute my point with anything other than empty words.

I'm not sure what you mean? The op has a 60 and I called it. You posted a 60 and thought it was a 44, and I called that. What else can I do to prove my "mystical powers"?

To the op, take a 1/2" inch wrench and a 9/16" inch wrench under the truck. A 60 has 9/16" cover bolts, and 44's have 1/2". Either that or go take a picture of the rest of it. Either way, it's a 60. Nice find by the way.

He may very well have, but you obscure the point, you can't distinguish a 44 from a 60 by the hubs alone, i hope the dude does have a 60, if so i'd offer him $500 for it (as i need one). ;)

That is your opinion bud. Your opinion is wrong. It really is that simple. I proved my point twice. How can you say it's not possible? Have you ever seen a 60? If so than why would you post one thinking it was a 44? What don't you get about the fact that the factory hubs are visually dissimilar? On top of that, the diameter of the hub itself is noticeably different as well. Those spicer lockouts that I posted are factory ford D60 components. They don't fit a 44. They look different than a 78/79 ford D44 spicer lockout. Am I being clear enough?

Congrats on the D60, they weren't all that common on the 78/79 F250's (outside of the sno-fighter package). :-X22

Thanks for all the info, I thought it was cool I have the build sheet. Its going to be ugly when I place the new tan bed on a maroon and silver cab. Using Hammerite on the framewhile the beds off. neat site, Bill

they made a d44 with the same lockouts as a 60 i have a few of them close knuckle and a hp 44 with the same looking lockouts as my old 60 you would think all my trucks have a 60 not hateing but my close knuckel 44 and a 79 60 i have are the same lockouts just diff spline for the outer shaft

tubesaft 09-13-2011 12:34 PM

Hi, I posted the numbers, the cover bolts are 9/16ths, four (4) large bolts bottom kingpin. Is there still a question about it? thanks, Bill

Which bolts are you referring to? cover bolts or the bolts on the knuckle? check the bolts on the inspection cover on the "pumpkin", 1/2"=D44 9/16"=D60
