3 fuel pumps and plastic lines I think you are mistaken

IIRC 87-88 Fords utuilized the 3 pump setup...One in each tank, and a frame mounted one....


Personally...Chevy quit making TRUCKS after 1986....Even the chevy guys will admit the "New" 1987+ models were crap....

Dodge...Well...They quit making respectable trucks in 1993....

And for blew it with the 10th+ gen. trucks...Although, as much as I lov my 87-96 models....There's a nice white standard cab/shortbed in town...Black wheels/windows....Really nice truck...

And for the record...Ford blew it with the 3.0/4.0's IMHPO....Jeez those turds either die prematurely, or never kill over...

1994 F150 4x4 w/302 E4OD-much more durable than the cevys i have been around and by all means better than the Z71s and the VORTEC bs. engine wise is a bit more of a hasle than the GMs of the era due to more high tech engines and stuff. ford turns better haha. plus these trucks come apart sooooo smoothly when workin on em

1992 Chevy s10 2wd w/4.3 TBI and 4r60le-engine was much muuch easier to work on and you could use parts from many other engines. power was never an issue then again it was a smaller truck. the audio was smoooth work. durable as hell but only if you took care. kind of a PITA to take apart to do large work with. no big complains or aches at all. now the fullsize ones like my friends 94 1500 4x4...i dearly haaate that truck. as well as most other full sized chevys haha, their engines and drivetrains are pretty much all i like.

1979 Trans-am w/403(stock) and unkown stock trans.-its a GM and quite honestly...i have few good things to say bout it before we built it. horrid rust issues (IN A NON RUST AREA), the stock engine was falling to pieces at 121*** miles, it was a pain to work on, just an all around PITA. GM did nothing too great with the cars atleast in this era (from what my dad of 23 years of body work has told me) buut, they have tons more aftermarket stuff then ford does haha

As for your brothers big 305 V8 rangergirl, my stock 89 F-150 302 will eat it for lunch. I have seen that same kind of engine take some serious abuse, its got SO much power and torque, I have pulled about as much weight with my F-150 as my F-250, I get where your coming from on the fuel system part. But I do admit that the 1/2 ton chevys get good mileage.

I own the 6.9l Diesel from 1984, and I am in the military, I also have driven a lightskin HMMMV with the 6.2l Diesel, 6.9>6.2, it wasnt a terrible engine, but it wasn't the best either. The 6.9l is the dominant old Ford Diesel(7.3 is a bored out 6.9 so it makes little difference). But if you turbo the 6.9 it will blow a 6.2 turbo out of the water, that is coming from the military standpoint.

I am also a sheet metal insulator, I trust my Ford 302 any day of the week over my best friends chevy with a 350 in his.

I love our '85 El Camino. Has a very powerful smallblock in it.

I love my slow little F-150, too.

Dad's little Dakota can pull myF-150 sideways, and gets great fuel mileage.

I'd say it all depends on the actual vehicle, and how it's set up.

I personially love ford simply because its very easy for me to work on the truck, i haven't found it too difficult yet to work on my truck, where as chebbys its a bit PITA to do any thing except very very basic minor things (change out light bulbs) and even replacing head lamp bulbs its a PITA where on my ford its just reach in and change out...

I know for a fact a 305 out pulls a 302 outta the hole everytime which in my opinion is where it is needed

Well I'm 60 and have driving for the past 44 years. Over the years I have owned over forty vehicles and also had several company ones too. Some of the things I drove haven't been made since most of you were born (DeSoto, REO, Studebaker)
My all time best truck was a 86 Suburban (Big Red) that was my wifes favorite vehicle and the one that three of my four children learned to drive on. She didn't like the mini vans and considered it a big station wagon. That poor truck went almost 250k before I retired it. It was easy to work on never let us down.
All of my Ford trucks have been good too with my current one (Nelly Belle) being the best. I also had Dad's 83 F150 (Old Red) that went 220k and it was one of his favorites. That truck is the reason I still drive this type (80-96) today.

I recently drove my sons 05 Dodge 1500 with the Hemi and my daughters 03 Chevy and I liked the Dodge better but still prefer the older Fords sight lines. ( I wouldn't mind the Hemi power though) I had a 99 Ford 4.6 PU and a 00 3.9 Dodge PU for work trucks and I didn't like them. One of my favorite work trucks was an Astro van. Small in size big on power and a blast to drive in the city.

My wifes current ride is a 94 red Caprice wagon with the LT1 and handling package and it is a royal pita to work one but its very fast, looks cool, and will get 23 mpg with the cruise set on 70 mph. I'll be selling it soon and get something for me and give Nelly Belle to the wife.

I have driven Fords, Chevys, and Dodges. I was a chevy guy for the most part until I bought my 82 F250. I had a 2000 Ram 1500 hundred that had all the regular maintence done to it and when it hit 100K the trans fell apart and the valvetrain crapped out. I think ive had 5 or 6 chevys and they have all had major problems, but the few fords that I have owned never had. I dont think I will ever go back to owning a chevy again.

I have owned 3- 305 chevys and replaced 2 of them with 350's that motor is a turd just to say it. I rather a 305 to a 351 but will take the 350 over all of them. As for fords I have them to just plow and see the road salt abuse. (not caz they are better IMO)

Still not as bad as the 28 times the 05 6.0L PSD went into the shop before 37K miles... It got unloaded! So I have hope. (6.0l Was also a company truck)

Dont matter what we drive. If its American made and older then 4yrs it will break down. Only American chunk of steel worth its price tag is yellow and says Caterpillar on it...
