Whats up Don?
8' eves and 11' peak. Not enough height for a lift and it would tie up a shat load of room that isnt always used. Id love to have a lift though. |
I would love a lift aswell... would make something's nice, like the tranny swap im gonna be doing in the 77 this winter, amongst other things
|
Tryin to convince pops we need a pit/lift when our shop to end all shops goes up.
Here's hoping to a snowy winter: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...65062677_n.jpg |

Fullsizes are looked down upon when i went with groups, after the truck died. I toyed with rebuilding it. But decided against it. Been feeding my need for speed lately. Picked up an e55 amg. Been having fun toying with that. Whats the word on George? You get so used to doing work with the tools at hand, sometimes its hard to think of what would be a wise investment... Then you buy something and wonder how you ever survived with out it. I think a plasma is a good idea as well... Heck search the web or craigslist might be able to get a deal on one. |

George is still on idle. Hopefully changing soon
So far I've poured concrete, moved air compressor outside, replumbed shop air with 3/4 sch 40 metal lines, bought a new tool cart, put up 72ft of shelves at the top of the walls and in the process of reorganizing. I sold my tall Crapsman toolbox and i am trying to sell my smaller snap-on box. If that goes through im buying a 56" box with two 18" side boxes- lke 90" of toolbox awesomeness. |
Oh, i painted my press, mounted my band saw on a roll around cabinet, smoke about a box of cigars and a few fifths of good bourbon since finishing the truck.
|
Yes paul, well that was 7 years ago when i came up with that... haha... i was 16?
or 15? either way, life goes on. Sounds like you have been busy kris... Got another project lined up yet? |
Finish shop, start on George.

On a good note, I did find a 48 F1 that the owner tried to hot rod a little back in the 80's. It's been sitting next to his house for the last couple of years and when I asked him about it over the summer he said "come get it." So, I might pull the go fast parts out of the ranger and make the F1 into a 1/4 mile truck. :-jammin |
Lack of ambition is my problem. Id rather build trucks for other people and fix them when they go boom
I figure it cost $200+ every time i race locally and maybe as much as $1000 to race out of state considering NOTHING breaks on George, my 250 or the trailer. Payouts are typically $500/300/100 per class but are sometimes more in a field of no less than 20 trucks so winning any money at all is not a safe bet in the classes im in. This was tolerable when i had the building supply and fuel/expenses went under operating cost but now it sucks After i have some fun with v4.0 im building a 400hp 460 and getting back to the basics when the truck was fun and a hobby. Now its more like a job that cost me money. Not to mention having 10grand sitting in the corner of the shop on a motor stand |
I know the feeling, and thats why I'm in the debating stage. The bad part is not only do I have to worry about all of that, but I need to try to take care of the people that help me out along the way whether it's changing tires, or helping fix the truck when it breaks. One thing for sure is racing isn't cheap anymore if you want to even have a shot to finish in the top 3!!
