*2fords* 10-17-2017 07:34 PM

They've been showing previews of next week's Fast and Loud.
They have one of these tractors and matching trailer. There may have been another one in the back ground, but I didn't get a good look at it.
So tune in guys.

Does any one have any idea where I could find Aluminium 6 lug wheels or simulators for this ford, I was going to send 4 of them to Ca to the only shop I can find that will chrome them. Problem I have is now I have 10 wheels and not 4 of them are the same.

New C series owner

Hello, I just bought this retired fire truck and in doing some research came across this forum. Good to see other folks who have an interest in these trucks. This truck has spent its entire life in a fire hall and is in amazing shape, it has 23,000 kms or 14,000 miles. My plan is to remove the pump, and most of rear body and convert it into a car hauler.

...others pointed me here 'cause he's a C-cab genius. I'm a C-cab idiot who's going to get a lot smarter, hopefully not the hard way. Just bought a '69 C-750.

Hoping to learn how these are decoded, as I plan to drive this from Michigan to Utah this fall. Maybe I'm the dummy.😂

Getting moderately smarter...
C75 = C750
F = 391 4V FT engine (should this be "FE engine"?)
U = Louisville Assembly Plant
F90327 = March 1969
Wheelbase = 153"
J = red (official name TBD)
Model = Tilt-cab, gas
4B = Black leather grain vinyl
91 = standard cab
4 = (what transmission goes here?)
E2 = Eaton 16244 2-speed, 6.17/8.58, 17,500 lb. rear axle
D = 7,000 lbs. Ford Rockwell/Timken front axle

Been piecing info from numerous other decoded VIN's, so there may be errors. Really need the transmission code, paint color would be nice.

FT and FE engines are based on the same block design, but have some differences that make most parts non-interchangeable.

For that long trip, consider converting your ignition to electronic via Pertronix. There are other ways that can be found here if you don't like that method.

Check your fuel system.

Check your gas credit cards, and look into getting one with bonus points for gas purchases that you can redeem for hotel, other travel or hemorrhoid treatment. You will accumulated a lot of points on your trip.

Can't otherwise help with the decode, stand by I hope.

Good idea on the Pertronix. My local carb guy (he's old enough to recall the first one... :-missingt ) suggested replacing the governed carb with a vacuum equipped Holley 650...any pro or con you're aware of?

I'm speculating the 391 is FT, 390 is FE, and so on with others in the engine family.
