In basic concept a chop is done by cutting the roof off and into 5 pieces. With this roof you have the additional of needing to stretch the cab corner behind the door. The roof gets longer and wider when chopped which is why the 5 piece cut. In all honesty if you do not understand how to chop a top I would never attempt a section. Do you know what sectioning is?

At 6'7", the last thing I need is a lower roof...

It would be (relatively) easier to channel it than section it. Sectioning wouldn't get your rockers any closer to the ground. If you did section it the easiest would probably be above the bump and pancake the hood. Again, "easy" is a relative term...

Yeah, what would you do with your Stetson? :-X03

Seventyonef250 03-05-2012 09:44 PM

A guy my size doesn't need a Stetson.

Hey hombre, I have a stetson and I wear it while driving to shade my eyes from the sun. I didn't mean to imply anything else.

Cheers buddy!

I meant in order to walk through doorways or sit in a truck. My head already scrapes the roof! A Stetson might protect my forehead from those low doorways though. I already have to go with low heels on my boots.

And cheers right back!

sectioning is taking a slice from around the belt line of the car/truck to make the body slimmer if I remember correctly

That's right. Formerly known as "channelling." A lot of unforeseen problems will arise in the process.

No, I meant I was looking at the angles of the pillars on my stock truck to see how a chip would be made. Waaaaaay beyond my skills.

And channeling is where you lower the whole body over the frame by raising the floor pan. Different from sectioning.

Correct!

Channeling and sectioning are 2 completely different ways to customize a vehicle. Sectioning is a very involved process but channeling is easier of the two. Sectioning removes height from a vehicle. Channeling puts the body close to the ground.

Mine has a 3" chop and body dropped.
Here is a pic of it with no roof.

The truck looks great. Can you tell me what size those tires and wheels are?

Thanks

I can finally make a contribute to this thread. AIM lowering beams up front, and shackle hanger kit in the rear.
