Morning Indiana and all of our IN friends!
While traveling home yesterday I was honored to witness something I have never witnessed before. On our flight from LAX (which originated in Honolulu) there was a sailor who was escorting the remains of his officer home. After I deplaned I was able to witness the officers flag draped casket being taken from the plane and into a hearst by 6 sailors. It was very somber to witness this. While watching I said a few prayers for the officer, his or her family and all the brave men and women who have sacrificed everything for our freedom as well as those currently serving today so we can continue to enjoy our freedoms. Please keep this sailor and their family in your thoughts today if you can. I'll just end today with that... Joe. |
Good morning and have a fantastic Friday Indiana
|
Good morning Indiana, happy Friday! Joe, welcome home, enjoying the heat? Thanks for sharing that experience. It's good seeing our fallen warriors getting the respect they so richly deserve.

Hey y'all. Need some help from someone that does junkyard runs. Looking for a part (NON-Ford). Power mirror switch for an '85 AMC Eagle wagon. Switch is same as a Grand Wagoneer. Pic below. Contact me here (P.M.).
|
Morning Pat. Hopefully one of the locals can help you out with that!
|
Hoping so Pat. Just trying wherever I know there's car folks that shop at junkyards. Hoping maybe someone will be able to find one. Pretty sure ANY AMC from that time with power mirrors will have the same switch.
|
I haven't had the chance to do any yard hunting for a while. Most of the yards around here have gotten rid of the old stuff I need, I'll have to travel out in the boonies to find what I need.
|
Good afternoon everyone, hope yer having a good day.....:)
|
Great Saturday Indiana :)
Good morning Joe and Wag, have a super day All :) |
Morning Indiana and all of our IN friends!
Well we had an interesting afternoon yesterday... Some pretty intense storms moved through here about 3:30pm...WOW... We promptly lost power and it was like it was midnight with how dark it was outside and inside...lots of lightening and heavy rain and serious wind...at the Fort Wayne airport they clocked a 91mph gust! Once the storm passed I went outside to survey the house...thankfully we faired well...but our next door neighbor has a blue spruce laid over on its side and the neighbor down the hill had a pretty large tree limb snapped off and into the street. My in-laws called as they live about 3 miles north of us and they had 4 or 5 big trees come down (they live in the woods)...lots of damage to their home as the trees crushed parts of the roof and sofet areas...they actually had a roofing crew out there re-roofing their house and the crew got off the roof about 15 mins prior to the storm...the storm was a fast mover...moving up to 80mph at a time...that is FAST for storms to move...so it came upon you quick... The sky was eery looking...it had that grey/greenish/black look to it... My in-laws didn't call us to tell us they had this damage until much later in the evening...my father in-law took it upon himself to clear much of the trees with himself and Tracey's cousin that lives next door to them...I'm mad he didn't call for help! Back at our place...I fired up my generator (5500watt) outside and hooked up the 220v plug to my junction box in the garage which feeds my transfer switch in the basement...so I was able to run the sump pump and some general lighting circuits in the house...when I wired it I had to choose 6 circuits to run...I chose the refridgerators our extra freezer, the sump pump, the furnace (not AC), a couple of upstairs general lighting areas...I think I chose right...as this is the first time since I bought the genny about 8 years ago that I actually had to use it for this purpose...good insurance policy...huh!... Our electricity is normally very reliable since most all of our lines are under ground...the weird thing is our neighbors right next door and the other side of our street are a DIFFERENT electrical company and they typically go out and we don't...not this time! So I fire up the genny and get to talking to my neighbor down the hill...he says that he had heard we may be without power for up to 24 hours!...I'm thinking I need more gas!...LOL Anyway...fortunately the power returns about 6pm...not too bad...and thankfully the temperatures REALLY cooled off after the storm so we could be very comfortable with windows open. Now...I'm going around resetting all the clocks...and the microwave is DEAD!...that is the third microwave killed by surges and this one has a surge surpressor on it!...I'm thinking I may try and see what is involved with trying to file one of those claims against the surge surpressor maker...since they advertise that...hmmm...I'm sure there are all kinds of caveats and it probably isn't worth my while for a $350 microwave...but it may be worth a try! It appears that the microwave is the only casualty...luckily...my in-laws have lots of damage and a $1000 deductible...so my puny microwave is nothing and I'm very thankful... Just talked to my in-laws...their power came back on at 4am...but they still have all the damage to deal with insurance wise... Oh well...I've written enough for this morning.... I hope all of our Indiana folks are okay...those storms were pretty intense...they came from up in NW Indiana and strenghtened as they moved... I'll check in with everyone later! Have a great one and hope everyone is safe! joe. |
Good day everyone, hava great weekend, I will.......:)
|
Wow Joe, I'm glad yer around to talk about it, the wind causes alot of damage REAL fast...

Looks like I will be pulling the microwave down to check to see if a fuse is blown...apparently they have a fuse...gotta love the internet...
It is unlikley that is the issue...but I have to take it down anyway...so I may as well check before shelling out $$$...fuses are cheap! |

Hey Joe, if you come install my new microwave, you can have my old one... it still works, we just got one a little nicer that matches the stove and dishwasher... It's still sitting in the living room waiting for me to attempt an install. Should be easy, right?!?! :-yeahrigh |

This last one was a treat because I had to cut the tile backsplash to make it fit...we've since taken the tile down... It really is pretty straight forward to install...once you get the mounting plate attached to the wall...the microwave "sits" on that bracket in a groove on the bottom edge of the micro...than you flip it up and hold it to the cabinet with 4 long bolts through the cabinet floor...it really is pretty straight forward... |
Hey Joe, maybe the MW got hit by lightning, you may as well grab Robs old one, hehehe
|
I figure it should be an easy install since I already have one in there... if I'm lucky, maybe the wall bracket is the same, but I doubt that.
