Makes sense. Been working too much. Need to try and get the EOT and the MAT sensors changed this weekend. If that doesn't do it I'll be lost for sure...

How's the service truck?

Uzumati 01-24-2007 09:00 PM

Havent had a chance to check it yet, and the way it looks it may just have to sit for a while.

Gotcha! Ironically it's been down in the 40's here the past few mornings and it has been cranking up just fine WITHOUT plugging in. I'm still on the same oil from back in early October too. I still haven't changed it yet with these problems going on. BUT, the last 2 tanks of fuel have gotten some Lucas Fuel Treatment added to them. Maybe it's an injector issue after all?? Possibly they needed some lubrication inside. Before the Lucas it's been awhile since I ran any Diesel Kleen. This is my first time out with the Lucas stuff.... maybe there is some good evidence right here about the fuel needing some lubricity.

Also, I dug around the Shell Rotella website today. Everything I read says I can run the 5W40 synthetic year round down here. I guess that makes sense since the "hot" viscosity of both the syn 5W40 and the dino 15W40 is 40 weight.....

What do you think?

Uzumati 01-24-2007 09:30 PM

Intenational actaully came out about a month ago offically approving the 5W for use in our trucks year round. I've been getting such good UOA's on the DELO 15W I dont want to jinx myself by changing and since i havent gotten the romps yet dont see a need to.

I'm probably going to switch. I'll be starting a new job here in a few weeks and might be doing a good bit of driving for it. So the extended drain with it might help. I might go the bypass filter route too..... I need to get the truck fixed up before then though for sure....

Alan,

How's this sound to you? A Ford tech on another board I frequent told me to try flooring the accelerator pedal in park/neutral once the truck is up to operating temp. If it revs clean up to the redline the injectors are fine, if not the injectors are worn.....

What do you think? I tried it and it starts to stubmle around 2200 then cleans up and revs good........ As far as I can tell the injectors are the original stockers too.

No, not yet. Haven't had much time to do much of anything. I know I've seen it on here before, but what size is the fitting. Isn't it an o-ringed JIC fitting?

Anybody know? Is it straight 1/8" with an o-ring. ITP sells them for 6 bucks, but I can get it local for 1-2......

Once I get this I can check my fuel pressure.

This post is old, but I'll update it. Got the truck out of the shop earlier this week. It had a bad #5 injector. Well, it cooled off overnight and guess what, it's still chugging until it warms up.

I'm just going to wait until it gets colder and stays cold then give it back to him to fix. I'm suspecting injectors. I'll have to wait and see...
