Looks good this way..:9 |
What a great picture, John! There are just so many reasons for our members to consider joining Abe and his internet pals at this fall's PA Truckstock event.
The clean crisp mid-September mountain air will have just a hint of Autumn--The leaves may be just beginning to turn on the higher elevations. There will be campfires and stories, and trucks, and ice-cream, and "training sessions", and Bob will get lost and we will go out looking for him, and... Who wouldn't want to come? Jim |

Makes me homesick! Good thing I am flying in on Wednesday for a golf outing with my brother and father!

I'm still hoping to make it. Business isn't doing too good but what the heck.
I was going to go through the F-2 and make sure everything is road worthy, which I am still going to do, but also wanted to refresh the body. There are a hundred paint nicks and the hood has some blistering paint and there are a few rust issues popping through. I wanted it to look nice for the meet but for a 25 year old restoration it still looks good and I think I'll leave it alone this year. I figure if I dig tear into it body wise I might run into larger issues than I thought and the trip to PA is going to be about 1500 round trip, or more if I can make it to a few other stops after the meet. I'm sure it'll pick up a few more nicks during the trip so I'll leave it alone, add some more miles and see what I feel like doing next spring. I was thinking about it today, I did the restoration about 25 years ago, I figure I must average 5,000 miles a year, maybe a little less so I have probably close to 100K on the restoration. Not too bad. Some will show up with newly restored trucks, I'll be coming with one you can see what it'll be like after 25 years. |
Hey Bob. No worries. You know what my truck is like. I have several issues, and my paint is less than three years old. Your truck will look just as good as anyone's. Instead of focusing on flaws, think of it like this. Our trucks are like aging Hollywood stars. The cameras will be good to them, and some of the former glory of our trucks is sure to come shining through--especially with airplanes and mountains in the frame.
I'm sorry to hear that your business isn't doing as well as you would like. I wish I had some magic advice for you, but sadly I don't. I'm just glad to be retired--with my race, so to speak, already run. Jim |
give me the info
Ok i need the days its happening and the park we are all going to.
I was unable to go before but now it is possible so after reading through all these posts I just need where, when, and how long. |
The first post of page 1 has the basic information about the event. Post #3 has more detail.
And if you want to know anything more specific, one of us probably has an answer. Tom |
It is Sept 19 to 22 at the bald eagle state Park in Howard, PA.
Search for 2018 Central PA Truckstock . The info for reserving a campsite is there also. Or you can get a room at the Nature inn. |
here are links to teh Bald EAgle State Park and the Nature Inn:
The Bald Eagle State Park is unique among the PA State Park system as it has a modern 16 room hotel called The Nature Inn. From their website: "Nestled within the natural beauty of Bald Eagle State Park, in the very center of the state, the Inn combines the comfortable amenities of an inviting bed and breakfast with sweeping views and door-step access to year-round land and water activities. Our walls of windows, huge decks, private balconies, and patios immerse you in nature and provide you with an unequalled natural experience." The link to the Nature Inn page is: Nature Inn Of course there are also camper hookups, cottages, yurts, and campsites. Here is the link for the camping page: http://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Fi...ages/Stay.aspx |

You are a flatlander now. Once you go west on 80 and enter Ohio it gets flat. I've been to northern Indiana, around South Bend never farther west than chi-town. Lower Michigan is flat too. Their roads are all parallel and perpendicular. Crazy ... and boring.

Bumping this to the top. Only six weeks away. If you live within driving distance of this event - we sure would like to see you there.
