Put on rear shocks, new plugs, wires, rotor button, and cap. I believe this truck has never had a tune up. The old plug wires still said 1994.

it feels good to get a good deal

Finally got to dig into the idle problems on the '87. So far I've pulled the upper intake and plan on attempting to make progress on getting the lower intake off tomorrow. It is going to get new gaskets, fuel pressure regulator, EGR valve checked, and every vacuum line inspected. Hopefully I can chase down the gremlins so I can get it idling closer to normal. Lots of work, but I haven't had much luck chasing down a specific cause so a broader approach is in order.

Installed a TYC offset gear reduction starter on the F-350. Truck now is much faster to start and doesn't flatten batteries any more.

Installed a new radiator yesterday (Sunday) in my '96 F150 XLT 4x4.
Never installed a radiator before. It went pretty well. I took my time and flushed the system before. I wouldn't have been able to do it if the weather hadn't been so nice. I have a crappy excuse for a garage. And, talking about getting a good deal: My sister-in-law works at the Napa Auto Parts distribution center in my city, and her discount is COST PLUS 10% or so, which amounts to about 50% off! New radiator, upper & lower hoses and extended life coolant came in right under $120.0 !! :-X04 Radiator was $85.20, hoses $10.22 + $8.74, coolant $14.94. And, while I was there, I picked up a fuel filler neck for my '94 Ranger XLT 2wd, since the sticker price is like $139. I paid $68.61. I also got front & rear shocks for the Ranger, and shocks & struts for my wife's Pontiac (I know, GM car = }>). I hope to do the Ranger shocks myself next decent-weather weekend (which may be this next weekend). I filled my F150 with gas for $1.479/Gallon! Missouri Quiktrip north of me had 87 octane for $1.679/Gallon, and I had $0.20 off per gallon with my grocery store points. Have a great day, everyone. |

I'm just very curious about this whole thing. I am slowly working through my old truck and repairing, upgrading, and restoring it as I go. I intend to replace my light housings in the future just because mine are pretty worn out (yellowed and faded, moisture inside, etc.). Adding headlight relays may be something I'd be interested in doing at the same time if it's within my abilities. |

Hey, good job! I've seen seen several people mention recently that they've created a headlight relay. And this has me curious... it appears that the primary reason for doing this is to make your lights brighter, which sounds great. But is there more to it than just a relay? Does this make them brighter with standard bulbs in stock housings? Or is this intended for use with HID's or something like that?

Not sure if their is a write up or if their is anything else to it as my 88 already had it done. Trav |
