Thanks for the reps. I enjoy the friendships here. I can not do these things for everyone, but you and a few others I do not mind at all.

Well, you are welcome but I'm not sure you aren't right. All I know is what I read on the internet, to paraphrase another Okie.

I think you're just going to have to beat on the tunnel with a hammer or ask in the junkyard wishlist thread.

What if there is no donor truck?
Buying a rebuilt trans, junkyard it? And then AutoZone for the boots?

I don't recall if I had a slip yoke or not, but I'm going with the 4x4 now that I've heard a few other people used everything else when they swapped.

Besides tranny cross member, what else did you need?

Welcome back, Kotter! Thanks for reading all that on the alternator. I/we've really been missing you, both for your expertise as well as concern for why you were gone.

I did miss the point about helicoiling the 3G. That makes sense, and I'm going to go back to that post and add that info in the hope others will not follow in my steps. However, I'm not sure that some slimming of the arm won't still be required as it has a small bump in the middle that snags the side of the alternator's lug.
