I'm really messed up...Freedom has some AM cams for $100 ea. that I was thinking about getting but now I don't know. Can you shed some light on this? For some reason I always end up with the most issue prone things Dangit..Since I'm going to be in there I thought heck change it all and close it up.. Again Thanks for the help..I'm fairly new to the modular motor mostly use to chevy and Cat..

"RE: Engine Positioning". Keep in mind, the engine is a 4 stroke. Hence the Crank turns TWO revolutions to the Camshafts ONE. Therefore the Crank Locking Tool can be aligned properly on EITHER compression or Exhaust stroke. --SO-- when you get the timing cover off, BEFORE removing chains or guides, make sure the Crank Locking Tool lines up (on Compression Stroke of Cyl 1) VERIFY THAT by the passanger PHASER "R" timing mark being on TOP, and the Driver's side Phaser "L" on Top. (You can also determine this by observing the Cam Lobes .... Check the Service Manual figures if you aren't sure). BTW. If there are colored chain links on your old chains, do not pay any attention to them "at this point". THEY WILL NOT lign up with timing marks but once every 122 crankshaft revolutions. So they could be 'anywhere', doesn't matter for now.

I bought my lash adjusters and followers as a "SET" from MMR (ModularMotorsportsRacing) Model # 900986
    3V Roller follower & Lifter Kit for all 2005 - 2010 4.6 & 5.4 [900986] - $349.99 : Modular Motorsports, Home of the Worlds Fastest Modular Engines
I had 'grave' concerns about compatability since my Truck is a 2004 and almost every set I found stated they were for 2005-2010. The MMR people were VERY responsive (even had a Motor rebuilder mechanic call me on the phone.) He assured me he had used the set in numerous 2004 5.4L racing engines with NO problems. 13,000 miles past my timing job I can report the same. I also used MMR's # 543295B Billet Aluminum tensioner arms.

Thanks, i'm thinking the guides or tensioners let loose , I can hear a metal to aluminum type sound. Since I'll be in there should I replace the lash adjusters and rockers? and if so is it as easy as locking the crank and removing the cams or is there a sweet spot she needs to be in? I'm trying to get a shopping list together and checking parts and prices if you know any good resources. Thanks for the help and information.

Good evening, getting ready to tear into an 04 f150 4x4 5.4 that wants to sound like a diesel. Would you mind sending me a copy of the service manual? Thanks in advance and thanks for all the info on this forum. Also the truck currently has lockouts and tune would I be better off keeping that or installing new phasers? I'm on the fence. thanks,

me again... sorry! is it true that our trucks don't have an oil pressure transducer? Is there any way to see actual engine oil pressure using Torque? This would seem to be an extremely important bit of data to monitor! Thanks... Joe

You mentioned, a year or so ago, that you might be willing to send someone a copy of Ford's official Factory Service Manual in PDF format. I just got a 2005 F150 and would like to get a copy of the service manual. If you're willing, Thank you very much!
